"Alright, I guess it's time to do this..." Maya replied. To be honest with herself, she wasn't looking forward to being a flamingo. She already had a bird morph, and at least that one was a more natural sight. And it could fly.
Oh wait. She would be able to fly... she was pretty sure flamingos flew. Her newly acquired DNA wouldn't include any flight inhibited procedures that the zoo keepers would have implemented to render the zoo flamingos flightless. Suddenly the flamingo morph was looking a little better.
Even if a large pink bird wouldn't be able to blend into most of the surroundings of future missions...
She concentrated on the flamingo and soon morphed. It was an even more bizarre feeling than turning into the chickadee. Especially the tall stilt legs and that huge beak. Boy this is going to be interesting... she pondered to herself as she wandered after Nancy.

As soon as he saw the girls had started morphing, Bruno started as well. Hopefully if there were any problems that occurred they would experience them first. He didn't know what sorts of complications morphing could have, and frankly he didn't want to know, but he was sure that something could happen. When all your internal organs are sloshing around inside like a washing machine, who knows what can happen.
Luckily nothing bad happened and Bruno managed to morph the flamingo without incident. That's not to say it went smoothly. Morphing the flamingo was an extremely awkward sensation for Bruno.
Even as Bruno shrank and knew he was getting shorter, he felt as if he were getting taller. Not only that, but he also felt like he was getting more fragile. Like a slight breeze would snap him in half. And to top it all off, every part of his body felt like it had got wrenched into an awkward angle that should have caused pain, but didn't.
His knees were reversed, his neck was perpendicular to his body, and his mouth bulged out and angled down sharply toward the ground. Flamingos were awfully strange to turn into...
<<So now what? We just wait?>> Bruno attempted to hide his own uneasiness by acting nonchalant.

Nancy stopped splashing around in panic when she arrived in the midst of the flamingos. She twisted her head around and stared where she had been. Intruders gone. Safety. Can relax. Flock equals safety. Nancy began to relax and her ruffled feathers began to settle. As the flamingo's mind began to settle in its relative safety, her own mind began to take control as she realized what had happened.
<<Oh maaan! I lost control again!>> Nancy moaned in her mind. She began to strut back out of the herd of pink avians. Which was when she noticed that there were two other flamingos suddenly walking towards the herd. Two flamingos that hadn't been near the place where Nancy had morphed for several minuites. And it confirmed it when Bruno's thought-speech hit her. <<Yeah, um, waiting is about the only thing we can do. At least until the ivory-thieves get here. Then we take 'em down. But we still have to wait so...>> Nancy trailed off.

Maya was slightly weirded out by the way the flamingo walked with it's gangly backwards-like legs, but it got fairly familiar to her after wandering a bit. <<I don't see how this morph will ever be useful again,>> She commented to the others. <<But I gotta say it's pretty interesting.>>
She wobbled around the habitat, taking a moment to search it out for a good waiting spot. It couldn't be too far from the flock so that it wouldn't attract attention (though who would be looking?), but they needed to see the elephant habitat from whichever spot they chose. She finally caught a great view of the elephants. <<Hey guys what about here?>>

After getting settled into the flamingo habitat (and flamingo body) Bruno had time to really take notice of this new form. He felt very light. When he was the peacock, he had been very light, but it wasn't as noticeable since it was a stalkier form. Not to mention the enormous tail. But the flamingo was tall and scrawny, so it felt lighter. More fragile. And to a man as large and muscular as bruno, it was a bit unsettling. At least he didn't have to worry about any wild animals attacking him at the zoo. <<I thought you said all of the cleaning crew went home,>> Bruno commented half an hour later. A couple guys drove up on one of the zoo's maintenance vehicles and stopped in front of the elephant exhibit. They got up and started pulling tools from the back. <<Or is that...>> Bruno couldn't even bring himself to say what he was thinking. He hadn't realized until just now that he didn't think the ivory thieves would actually show. He was stunned that this was actually happening.

<<I thought they had all gone home. There's usually only about a dozen that are working after the zoo is closed and they're usually gone pretty quickly. These might be the security guards though,>> Nancy explained. But she didn't know why the guards would be at the elephant exhibit. <<Unless...>> The thought suddenly struck her. Was it at all possible that these were the ivory thieves? They were wearing security uniforms, but weren't wearing hats that you normally saw on guards everywhere, and they seemed to be handling a bit more than a flashlight and pistol. They could've taken the costumes.
<<Let's take up positions anyways, you know, just in case these aren't guards or whatever. I mean, is it at all possible that the uniforms are fake...?>> Nancy began to unfold her wings, wondering if flamingos could fly. She cautiously walked towards the barrier around the flamingo enclosure, trying to to distract the...people with water splashing. She was attempting to get a slightly better look at he people as the darkening sky was beginning to limit her range of vision. <<Um, what are they doing?>> she asked as the people began doing something with the tools.

<<I'm not sure what they are doing. I can't see very well in this body. Well, I'm not used to seeing like this anyway. The vision isn't terrible. Oh, wait, it looks like they are cutting a hole in the fence. They definitely are not part of the zoo staff.>> Bruno waded through the water to get a better view. He went to a part of the flamingo enclosure that was away from where Nancy was splashing about.
What do we do now? Bruno wondered to himself. They caught the criminals in the act, but what was the next step? <<Maybe someone should contact the authorities. Maya, you want to do that?>> Bruno would have volunteered himself, but he didn't want to be off somewhere else if the girls got into trouble. And he didn't volunteer Nancy since it looked like she was already busy trying to do something else.
<<Hopefully we can get the police or someone here before those people do anything to the elephants. If not...>> Bruno wasn't sure what exactly they would do otherwise. All he had seen any of them morph so far were birds, so that probably wouldn't be overly helpful. <<Say, Nancy, do you happen to have any other morphs that might be helpful here?>>
