Rox gave Johnny the stink eye when he said he thought she was talking to herself. She thought about punching him in the shoulder, but managed to restrain herself. Besides, when he called himself the best looking couch potato, she figured he had punished himself enough for the both of them.
"She has a lizard morph, I know that much," Rox said when Johnny asked about Evelyn's morphs. "No wait. It's a whatchamacalit. A gilly monster, right? Something like that. Johnny can morph a lizard too. The closest thing I have to a reptile is a goldfish."

Evelyn laughed quietly at Johnny. "Well since you are the first couch-potato I've met I'll have to take your word for it." She did a mock curtsy before grinning toward Rox. "G...Gila monster, yeah. A goldfish, huh? That doesn't seem to fit you." she was teasing... sort of.
Rox didn't seem like a goldfish person to Eve. Evelyn was thinking Orca. Or shark. Or, or... manta ray. With such exotic morphs, why a goldfish? Well a goldfish is less suspicious in some places, than, say, a whale... but it was still interesting to think about. Personally she was hoping for something bigger for her water morph.... A dolphin might be fun.. Or an octopus. Eight legs and all, probably a weird experience. Snapping out of her morphing thoughts, Evelyn stared at johnny. "You have a lizard morph? What kind?" Reptiles. What could she say; they were amazing to her. /First impressions a-are everything right? Hope I'm not going to be the crazy reptile l...lady./ Evelyn's thoughts were truly everywhere.

Johnny liked this girl. Attractive, agreeable, pretty, interested, gorgeous...the list went on. He held up a hand. "First, Rox doesn't need a reptile morph. There wouldn't be much of a change during morphing escept she'd grow a tail. Second, a gila monster? ...cool!" Like whatever the heck a heel monster is, "And third, my lizard is some kind of gecko that apparently, is sometimes bought for a pet. I work in a petshop so that's how I know. I'm like an encyclopedia, right?"
In the meantime, while he was talking, Johnny kept giving what he hoped were subtle once-overs on the new girl. Then he suddenly got a craving for junk food. "Hey, would you like something to eat or drink or something? We got tons of things that have tons of caffeine and no nutritional value whatsoever." His question was pointed towards Evelyn, like Johnny had forgotten that Rox was there.
Johnny got up, ready to jog into the kitchen to get their orders.

When Evelyn said a goldfish morph didn't seem to fit Rox, Rox took it as a compliment. She didn't want to seem like the wimpy little small fry that was flopping around at the bottom of the garbage can after she acquired it. The only reason she bothered acquiring it in the first place was because she didn't want her only morph to be a white dove. It was too... symbolic.
She was so lost in that thought that she almost missed Johnny's reptile comment. If she had realized what he said a little bit sooner, she probably would have given his shoulder a good hard punch that time. When he got up to go to the kitchen, Rox leaned in toward Evelyn and said semi-quietly, "See what I meant by annoying beyond belief?"
Then in a normal voice Rox said, "I'll be in my room. Maybe we'll talk again some other time." Then she headed toward her room without even looking back.

"Bye Rox." Murmured Evelyn, watching her go to her room. /Is she leaving because of Johnny? Or d-did I do something?/ Mmm... she was sort of hoping it wasn't her fault. Rox seemed like she would be a good friend, and Eve didn't want to piss her off.... Snapping out of her thoughts to answer Johnny, the brunette smiled. Caffeine and food with no nutritional value. This place seemed to get better and better.
"Er...If you have any coffee that would be n..nice." Coffee always made her more alert; it usually perked up her attitude as well. Then again the buzz she got from the drink usually made her act pretty weird. Something about the composition of the drink and her body.... Or something. Smoothing out the crinkles on her dress, Evelyn pulled her feet up on the couch and hugged her knees. With another smile toward Johnny, she spoke. "Scratch that. I'll take soda if you h-have any." Might as well stay on the safe side for now.

Johnny stuck his tongue out at Rox as she left, although she probably didn't see it. then he grabbed his shirt collar with one hand and jerked himself towards the kitchen, saying, "Coffee? Gotcha...wait, huh? Soda? Okay, I can do that, too." When in the kitchen, Johnny pulled open the fridge, scanning the contents in search of the location of their pop. He found it. He took two cans and returned to the living, where he sat down at the opposite end of the couch as Evelyn.
"I hope you don't mind Dr. Pepper," he said as he passed her a can. He pooped the cap on his and took a sip. "So...how'd APPARITION get you? Blackmail? Bribery? B.S.? Bartering? Any other word that begins with a 'B' that I'm leaving out?" He looked at her curiously. He'd heard several stories of how new people had joined PHANTOM, and they included everything! He wondered if her's would be unique or if it would be basic hum-drum run-of-the-mill type talk-and-then-fake-your-death-to-start-a-new-life-with-random-strangers-and-creeprs-like-Rox. He hoped it would be the former. It was nice to hear a good story without the same punchline that had been used a dozen times.
