<Oooo a beach! I should have brought my bikini!> Emily did a bound in the air and a happy bark. She hadn't been to the beach ever, but had seen a lot of pictures, and had done a lot of swimming. This would be so awesome! Shadow dodged out of Emily's way with her sporadic leap, giving her an annoyed look. Emily grinned, at Shadow. <Sorry Shadow> she said somewhat amused.
She chased after Leroy and out of nowhere tackled him, tumbling over and over with enthusiasm, barking with good humor. It was a beautiful day and she was feeling the energy.

Leroy was surprised by the tackle, but not displeased. It was hard to be anything but happy when you were a dog. Dogs know how to have a good time, and on the beach Leroy was definitely experiencing one of those good times! He roughhoused back at Emily for a little bit, then ran into the waves that were hitting the shore.
The scents and sounds were almost overwhelming, but in a good way. Leroy almost couldn't help but chase the seagulls that were on the beach, or sniff around near the people who were there. He convinced himself that he was just trying to blend in, but in reality it was just so much fun!
<<I don't know why I never thought of this before, but the beach is definitely the place to be when you are a dog.>>

Emily barked with laughter as she joined Leroy in the frollicking. <any place is a great place to be a dog, except the city> she responded joyfully as she sprang into the air with playful jumps and tumbling. Shadow looked at Leroy suspiciously, then went racing over to Emily, who now cannonballed into the water. She surfaced and began to swim, her ears perked.
She looked back at Leroy and barked good naturedly. She loved swimming, running, climbing. Well pretty much anything. She swam back to shore and shook herself dry. <do you have a winged form?>

Leroy was having so much fun running and playing that he almost missed Emily's question. <<A winged form? Yeah, sure. I got two. Well, if you count my bug morph I have three. Why, do you want to try flying?>>
Just about the only thing more fun than being a dog was being a bird. Leroy looked/sniffed around and saw a bunch of birds on the beach. They were mostly seagulls, but there were a few other species as well. <<Just pick out a kind of bird and I'll help you try and catch one.>>

Emily glanced at the birds near the waters edge and frowned, her doggy nose crinkling in distaste. Seagull was not her style. She glanced at the other birds, then speculated. Seagulls would have greater access to the ocean. She could choose a sea form. She walked back and forth at a safe distance from the birds, looking them over. What to choose? She thought about the greatful swan, the sharp eyed hawk and eagle, the blue jay, the robin red breast. She glanced at the birds again, then back at Leroy. <Could you help me find an eagle or a hawk?>

Leroy was slightly surprised by the kind of bird Emily asked him to help her get. He was expecting one of the types of birds down on the sand. But a hawk or an eagle? Those would be a bit harder to get. Not that Leroy could blame Emily for wanting to become one... <<Well, I said I would try to help you catch the kind of bird you chose, so that's what I'll do. But these dog eyes aren't that great for scanning the sky, so I think I'll demorph. Her on the beach I shouldn't stand out in the crowd too badly in my morphing outfit.>> Leroy ran over to some rocks that would hide him from view and a few minutes later he walked out onto the sand and searched the sky for an eagle or hawk. ((OOC: I did a bit of research and found out that the only Sea-Eagle found on the Texas coast is the Bald Eagle. But there may be other birds of prey and I didn't want to decide your morph for you, so let me know what type of animal you are thinking. ))

Emily watched in slight amusement as he paraded around in his uber tight clothes... ok he hunted around in his uber tight clothing. Shadow must have caught wind of her thoughts because he gave her a disapproving look. She felt herself blushing, and was glad she was in dog form. Black hid blushing well. But Leroy was right. Dog eyes were bad for hunting, but the sense of smell was good, though easily distracting. She speculated changing as well, and morphed back into human form, moving to stand with Leroy. After she had her "color" under control.
"See anything yet?" she asked, scanning the skies. How would they get one, even IF they found one. She couldn't fly. Then she remembered Leroy saying something about being able to fly. Did he have a bird? "If you had an animal I would be interested in, would I be able to take the DNA from you to have it as well?" She knew it was an awkward question, but she couldn't think of how better to ask it. She could only hope that he understood.

"Nope, I don't see anything yet," Leroy said in response to Emily's first question. "At least not any hawks or eagles. But it would probably be easier to see the sky if all these seagulls weren't flying in the way..."
Emily's next question was unexpected, but it made sense for her to ask it. Even though Emily had been able to morph for a long time, she probably hadn't spent much time with other people who could morph, which meant there was no reason she should know the answer to her question.
"You mean would you be able to acquire one of my morphs? That is a good question, and unfortunately the answer is no. People can't acquire a morph. Well, maybe if they stayed past the two hour limit and got trapped in a morph, but no offense, I'm not going to get trapped in a morph so that you can acquire it." He gave Emily a wink so she would know he wasn't being entirely serious. "Besides, I don't have a hawk or eagle form like you are looking for. My bird morphs are a duck and a hornbill."
Suddenly an idea struck Leroy. "Say, how would you feel about morphing something small and gross? Because I just realized that even if we do find a hawk or eagle, I probably won't be able to get it down to the ground with the bird morph I have. But what I probably could do is drop you off onto one of them. Although it would definitely be risky..."

Emily gave Leroy a surprised look. Small and gross? As if! Though she could handle a lizard or a snake. Though the birds DID look hungry. She shuddered. As much as she wanted an eagle, she wasn't too keen on the idea of being a snack. Of course, Shadow would protect her. She glanced at Leroy again.
"what did you have in mind? For the gross and slimey that is?" She tilted her head slighly to survey all the birds. She couldn't wait to get one, though she had to agree with Leroy, she wasn't too keen on his bird options. No offense to him.
"Is there a zoo here?" she asked. If there was, it would be kind of cheating, but it would definitely provide a lot of opportunities and choices. Not to mention a better supply of birds.
"How did you get yours?" she added as another thought.

"You are a genius," Leroy said to Emily when she suggested a zoo. "I was thinking you could have morphed a small crab or something and I would drop you onto a wild bird's back, but your idea is much more sane. I like sane."
"Unfortunately Mariposa doesn't have a zoo. The closest one is in the next city. But," he added enthusiastically, "We do have an aquarium, where I take tickets, and a circus. And if I remember correctly, the circus has a tent devoted to bird shows. That is where Johnny acquired a golden eagle morph, so I'm sure they will have something you would be interested in."
Suddenly Leroy realized that Emily hadn't met Johnny yet. "Oh yeah, Johnny was a member of our animorphs crew before you arrived. He was transfered to Arbella over on the west coast. He was with me when I acquired my hornbill morph on a mission in Africa. I acquired my duck morph in a park a few blocks from here."
"So, feel like taking a trip to the circus?"

Emily glanced at Leroy, her eyes lighting up. A circus? She had never been to one before. She sprang into the air, dancing happily, barefoot across the beach causing the birds to make screeches and to take to the air, then danced in the water, her hair swirling about her. She turned her attention to Leroy again, a big grin on her face. "You got the tickets partner?" she asked good naturedly, stopping in the water, still smiling.
She had never been to a circus, had heard of them. Shadow had joined her, barking at the birds and chasing those slowest to rise to go after, not to hurt, but just to bounce on his nose.

"I assume you like the circus?" Leroy asked after Emily finished her dancing and asked about tickets. Leroy liked the circus too, but it was hard to get that excited about it after having already been there. Especially considering all the "excitement" he had the last time he was there. Although he did manage to acquire an elephant, so that was pretty cool. He had the picture of that event sitting on top of his dresser. "I don't have the tickets, but I suppose I could buy them when we get there. It will be a welcoming gift from me to you. But we will have to stop back at the apartments first. Morphing money isn't exactly my specialty," Leroy said, motioning to his pocketless shorts.

Emily let out a whistle impishly, her dark eyes dancing with mischief as she eyed him up Well he HAD gestured for her to look. She grinned her famous cheshire cat grin and nodded. "Yeah those clothes are a bit... revealing... to go to the circus. And I have never been to the circus. My parents kept me on the ranch to keep me from morphing in public."
Her gaze grew distant as she looked back over her memories. "There were no rules, no boundaries. And I could do whatever I wanted," she said softly, crouching down and petting Shadow, who rested his head on her knee. She missed those carefree times. But there was no looking back now. Besides, it was apparent now how embarassed her parents had been of her. Even THOUGH she hadn't been paying attention.
