Leroy slid opened the door to the apartment that the note in his hand said he now lived in. The place was big, but that was mostly because there weren't many walls. There was a kitchen area attached to a living room area and a place with a table to eat at. Along the walls he saw several doors where the bedrooms probably were. "Not too shabby."
He picked the first room on the left. Bathroom. He picked the last room on the left. Sweet! It was a corner room, so there were lots of windows. The beds were lofted, which meant he would probably have a roommate eventually, but that was okay. And it looked as if the closet and dresser already had some generic clothes in them. He could definitely live here.
Once he got himself all situated, Leroy went over to the window to think. He was now an animorph and had a lot of responsibility. Supposedly he was going to have other people helping him, but he didn't know who yet. He opened up the window and looked around. Not a bad view.
Just as his mind started to wander to morphing, a little green bug landed on his arm. He was about to flick it off, but then thought better of it. "You're an animal, right?" He concentrated on it and acquired it's DNA. Or at least he assumed that he did. He had never done it before. "I wonder if this really works."

Allie arrived at the apartment the note said she now lived in to find the door already open. It wasn't too much of a surprise as she'd been informed that the other animorphs in her team would be living here too. She hadn't come directly here, so it made sense that someone had beaten her.
On her way, Allie had stopped by the ranch that she was going to be working at and allowed her boss to give her a tour so she could familiarize herself with the place. She'd also stopped in to meet the animals and taken a short moment to "pet" one of the barn cats. She'd actually acquired him, or tried to, figuring she'd start small..... though definitely not insect small.
She made her way down the hall, seeing the bathroom door open and then another door at the end of the hall. She glanced in that room, seeing a guy leaning out one of the windows. Not just a guy, another animorph. He's a teammate and someone else who's life has officially ended and begun again.
She opened the door across the hall and set took a look at the room she'd claim, setting down the minimal bag of things from her old life she'd been allowed to keep. There were two beds in here and the dresser and closet already had some clothing in them, genderless articles that worked just fine for her taste.
After that she heard some talking in the other room and went to investigate, seeing the guy by himself and he seemed to be looking at a bug on his arm. "Sure you want that to be your first morph? I mean, I agree with starting small..... just not that small," she said as she stood there, though there was an attempt at a friendly smile on her face. "I'm Allie, and it looks like were partners, or teammates in the long run."

Leroy almost had a heart attack. He hadn't heard anyone else come in, so when Allie spoke it caught him off guard. "Oh, um, yeah, nice to meet you." Sure, maybe he was startled, but this girl looked nice enough. "My name is Leroy."
Then he looked down at his arm to where the bug had been a moment before. "I suppose you are right about the bug. Probably not the best choice." He stared at his empty arm for a moment more before looking up at Allie again and shrugging. "Oh well. It isn't an ugly bug anyway, and I don't really have any other options at the moment. Do you have any morphs yet?" Leroy was starting to feel a bit relieved that he was for sure not alone. He had been half-expecting nobody else to show up.

So his name was Leroy, for what that meant anymore. As far as everyone besides Allie and SPECTER knew, Leroy was dead. For that matter, as far as anyone besides Leroy and SPECTER knew, Allie was dead. I'm beginning to see the reason behind that.... not that I like it any better than I did when I had to give up what life I had.
"That's true, it wasn't an ugly bug. That, and I'm sure an insect morph will have it's advantages. I just didn't want to start out that small right away. I did acquire, or try to acquire, something though. I stopped at the ranch I got a job at, courtesy of SPECTER, and acquired one of the barn cats. I haven't tried morphing it yet though."
She couldn't really think about that though, her mind still on how she was supposedly dead and wondering how many people would really miss her. She shook those thoughts away in favor of something a little more positive, bonding with her new teammate. "So, should we test these morphs? I think we'll want to borrow from what the original animorphs learned and change into something skintight if that's the case."

"So, should we test these morphs? I think we'll want to borrow from what the original animorphs learned and change into something skintight if that's the case." "Might as well try them out, I suppose. I'm actually kind of curious to see exactly how the whole process works. Oh, and good call on the clothing thing, by the way. I'm sure I would have forgotten and ended up in my birthday suit." He let out a half-laugh, trying not to dwell on that thought. "I guess I should see if there is anything here that is skin-tight, huh?" Leroy went into his room and started looking through the closet and dresser. In the bottom drawer of the dresser he found several wetsuit-like articles of clothing. "I guess these will work," he said while holding one up. It didn't really have sleeves or legs, but that would probably make them better for wearing underneath other clothes.

Allie nodded, giving a half laugh at the comment of how he probably would have forgotten. It wasn't that funny though really, just really awkward to consider how he would have morphed out of his clothes. At least he would have had the smarts to demorph away from her...... she hoped. As Leroy started searching his room for tight clothes, she went looking in hers. She searched the closet and every drawer of the dresser, finally finding some things in the bottom drawer. Probably unsure of who the occupants would be, SPECTER had placed two options. Chances were Leroy's drawer had the same ones, so she'd have to take the less masculine one off his hands. She picked out a leotard that was about as physically covering as a swimsuit. Both the outfits covered as much, one was just more of a wetsuit and had sort of short legs like shorts would. She pulled the wetsuit out of her drawer and slipped into the leotard. She brought the wetsuit with her as she went back to Leroy's room. "Here, I figure you can take my wetsuit and I'll take your leotard.... unless you want it that is."

Leroy looked at Allie in her leotard, then the wetsuit in her hand, then at the open drawer by his feet. Sure enough, the other article of clothing was in fact a leotard. "Yeah. Let's trade." He set the leotard outside of his bedroom door, then closed it and changed quickly. It was only a moment before he was redressed and walking into the living quarters in his new morphing outfit. "Not too bad. Just a little snug is all."
"So, should we take turns, or both go at the same time?" He was getting pretty nervous, actually. He was about to turn into an animal! Not only that, but a girl he just met a couple minutes ago was going to do the same. "I think if I wait for another second to try this out I will explode. I'm going to go for it."
Leroy closed his eyes tight and thought about the little green bug that had landed on his arm. Then he pictured himself turning into that bug. After a few moments, without opening his eyes, he asked, "Is anything happening yet?"

Leroy swapped the leotard for the wetsuit Allie held and then shut his door so he could change. Allie put the leotard away in her room and then went to wait for him in the main room, which didn't take too long.
She had to agree with him, the clothes were a bit snug. But that was really the point, wasn't it? You wanted it as close to your body as possible because starting out you didn't really know how to morph anything that wasn't part of you or as close to that as possible.
He questioned if they should take turns or both go for it, but she really didn't know what to say. By the time she'd decided they should take turns, Leroy was already starting to morph after saying he'd explode if he didn't get to try it soon. He was starting to shrink and his skin was turning the bright green color of the bug. By the time he asked if anything was happening, he was about a foot shorter and looking a rather inhuman color.
"Its.... working. But I think you want to finish the morph. You've shrunk about a foot and turned green, but that's about it. It looks really weird." Surprisingly she didn't want to watch him anymore. It was unnerving to see a human changing into something that they were not.

Leroy cracked one eye open and looked at his hand. Allie was right, he was turning green. Then he looked out at the room and sure enough, everything looked a bit taller. He decided to take Allie's advice and finish the morph. So far it wasn't too bad.
But that would soon change.
As he continued to concentrate on the bug, with his eyes open this time, Leroy's skin stiffened and thickened into the insect's tough exoskeleton. Next, an extra pair of legs sprouted from his sides and antennae grew from his skull. "Groffsh" He tried to say 'gross' but his mouth was turning into a sort of tube-like apparatus.
Just then his complex human organs began to audibly slosh around and dissolve into the more simple bug organs. As if that weren't bad enough, his butt started to expand enormously. It was soon almost as big as the rest of his body had been, but at least it was in the shape of an abdomen. Lastly were four wings. Two that were hard and green. Two that were flexible and transparent.
<<I think that's it,>> he said with a tone that someone who just vomited would use. <<Wait a minute. Can you hear this?>> Supposedly you were supposed to be able to use thought speech just like an andalite when in morph.

Allie couldn't help but mirror Leroy's sentiment as he continued the morph. She couldn't tell much difference as his skin hardened, but when the legs and antennae came sprouting out things were getting freaky.
"Oh gross," she said as she turned her head, missing Leroy's expanding butt and the finishes of the transformation. She didn't look again until she heard his voice in her head, which at first she had to admit was really weird. She remembered to comments about speaking in thought speak when in morph, just had never had much idea what it would be like.
Well.... now I know, she thought as she slowly turned around, watching the floor as she did so as to not squish Leroy who she spotted in roughly the same place he'd been standing before...... just a whole lot smaller and a much different shape. "Wow," she said somewhat quietly, "it worked." Then realizing he was waiting on a response she said. "Yeah, Leroy, I can hear you. Not so sure about trying my own morph anymore though. That was kind of gross."

Leroy almost felt Allie's response more than he heard it. From what he could make out with his bug ears, she could in fact hear him. <<This is so cool!>> he said, referring to the thought speech and not the transformation. Although the morphing wasn't exactly uncool, but it was gross.
<<Alright, I think I'm going to try flying now.>> The hard green wings on his back rose up, then his clear wings started flapping. Up he went, into the blurry landscape that was his new home. He was a bit surprised that flying felt almost like swimming in really thin water. Sure, he was floating in the air, but he still had weight that was being pulled down by gravity and his wings were all that were keeping him up.
After a couple laps around the room he landed and began to demorph. <<Okay, I'm done. Your turn.>> As he became more human he realized that he landed on a table, not the ground. Not that it made much difference to a bug, but he was a bit embarrassed as he climbed down once his demorphing was complete.

He tried flying next, and it took a little control not to swat at him as he buzzed past her. It's an insect, but it's also your teammate. If you squish him you're going to have to explain his real death to SPECTER and we don't want that.
He landed and demorphed onto of a table, climbing down after he was done. Before he'd demorphed he'd commented that it was now Allie's turn. "Right," she said. Internally she was thinking Don't remind me.
She closed her eyes for a moment, focusing on the DNA and the image in her mind of the barn cat. It was black and white with the pattern on it's coat having the look of a tuxedo. She couldn't tell if anything was happening though, and remembered how Leroy hadn't known either when his eyes were shut.
She opened her eyes which were now bright gold and much more cat like than her human brown ones. White and black hair was sprouting erupting over her skin and her ears were pointed. Her teeth also felt a little different, more pointed like the cat's. Her hair had also change to black and was shrinking down to the length of her fur.
She continued the morph, starting to shrink as her hands and feet changed into paws and her bones started to change size, shape, and positioning. She fell forward onto her paws as a tail sprouted from the end of her spine. The last thing to shift was her face, it was furry it just stretched and shifted into the cat's.
The instincts kicked in now. The cat saw the human, but didn't much care. The human only mattered in so much that it would serve the cat. She prowled the house. Her territory, all of it hers. If anything that didn't belong her so much as set one appendage in she could attack with all her claws and teeth.
The cat had jumped up onto a sofa and curled up before Allie managed to get a grip on herself. <<Wow.... this cat's really full of itself. Surprisingly not a bad choice for a first morph, but very self centered.>>

Now that Leroy got the chance to watch someone else morph, he realized that it was still just as gross as he first thought. All of the hair and bone-shifting caused his stomach to wrench. But hey, at least Allie's morph wasn't as gross to watch as his bug morph probably had been.
"It's full of itself? Hmm, interesting..." When Leroy was in morph he did not pay much attention to the bug's mind. It barely even had one. But a cat mind was probably a little more complex than a bug's. "Well, do you like it?" Leroy wondered.

Allie stared at Leroy from her perch on the couch, getting a feel for the cat and how it's different view changed things. Also taking some stats of her abilities in this form so she could use it wisely. It seemed like it would be best for climbing and anything where she needed stealth. It really wasn't threatening so escape would be better than trying to fight.
<<I like it.>> She said after a few moments. <<It's definitely a good starting morph like I thought it would be. Not able to do a whole lot, but there's other animals I can get that will be able to.>>
Deciding she'd tested it enough, she demorphed, hopping down off the couch first since the sitting position the cat used would be rather uncomfortable for a person. When she was finally human again she gave her hair a toss and said, "Well that was different. Makes me wonder how different one animal is to another."

"Well, I'm glad you have at least one morph that you like. Mine is okay, but I think I want to try morphing something with a spine. And I am sure we will find out the difference between a variety of animals soon enough. I plan on acquiring an entire zoo!"
Maybe that was a bit of an exaggeration. Still, Leroy was already trying to decide what else he should try morphing. He would have to put a lot of thought into it though, because he didn't want to freak himself out again like he did with the bug. He already morphed something small. Maybe his next morph should be big. Hmm...
"So, you mentioned that other morphs would be able to do what your cat morph can't. What all did you mean by that. Obviously flying and swimming, but what else is there? Digging?" Leroy felt as if he should know about twenty things that other animals can do, but his mind was distracted at the moment. He had just turned into a bug, watched someone else turn into a cat, and was trying to decide what to turn into next.
