Johnny beat harder and quicklly increased his altitude. Rox's voice was as plain as day. That meant he wasn't leaving her behind. Now he scoured the skies and ground for a white form. Seagulls and pigeons filled the place but he didn't find the dove. He continued on towards the high rise, trying to get away. Maybe he'd lose her in another few minutes.
Her remarks stung. So he sent a few back, <<Yeah, Rox. That's real helpful. What if you had lost control of the morph? You'd have killed me and the child. Or what if you had missed me and bit the baby? It couldn't demorph. You're lucky I could. But now, how do we trust you, Rox? In a mission, how am I supposed to watch you and Sarah or someone at the same time? Just go away Rox. Go away.>> Johnny pumped his wings harder, trying to put distance between him and the dove he couldn't see.

<<Listen here you little twerp. Don't you think I realize all that? Why do you think I'm trying to apologize!? Yes, I did attack you. You. As a prank. Nobody else. And I only did that because you could demorph.>>
Rox flew furiously for a few moments, letting some of the anger get out of her system. Finally, she managed to find the words needed to continue. <<So sure, maybe I messed up. Everyone does every once and a while. But if you still can't get what I'm trying to say into that thick skull of yours, consider this. If I was really out to get you, then why didn't I finish the job? You had time to morph. Twice. That was more than enough time to circle around for another attack or seven. And it's true what they say about sharks when there's blood in the water, so believe me, I could have done it.>>
Rox was fuming. All the guilt she had been feeling earlier was now mostly turned into rage. Rage that Johnny didn't seem to buy her logic. Right now she was wishing she had a pterodactyl morph or something so that she could try to knock some sense into Johnny without being killed by his giant bird morph.

For once, Johnny was getting a taste of his own medicine. Nobody had ever been able to block him out, but now he was unable to block Rox out. Life was SO unfair. Not even turning the morph over to the eagle had helped. It had just turned around in circles, soaring effortlessly without even trying to get away from Rox.
So he had to talk, <<Yeah, but...that's not the point. You attacked me.>> It was very lame, but Johnny just wanted to shut her up. And in truth, Johnny had no comebacks or answers. He was just angry at Rox. There was no reason she had to attack him. It wasn't like he had stolen a cookie from her or something. And it wasn't his fault that all of his natural charm and brilliance offended her. But those were not reasons to attack!
Johnny veered upwards, flying as high as he could.

Rox wanted to roll her eyes. Would he just get over it already? Rox may have been hypocritical since she probably would not have forgiven Johnny if their situations were reversed, but that fact did not stop her from becoming annoyed.
Rox could see that Johnny was getting pretty high up in the air. Higher than she could easily fly. He may get out of thought speech range at any moment, so she would have to make her last few sentences count.
<<So I attacked you. It's not like I can unattack you. But maybe I can make it up to you. Any requests?>> Rox didn't know what sort of things Johnny might come up with that could make them even, but she was pretty sure she would find it unpleasant one way or another.

Rox's thought-speak was much fainter at the altitude that Johnny was flying at, but he couldn't get any higher. The air was just too thin for even his browad wings. So he would have to make do with tuning most of Rox out. Which wasn't working so well. He still heard her. But he was kinda glad he could hear the last part.
<<Rox, I'll just make one request. Be nice to everyone. That's it. Just be nice. Quit acting like Mr. T's your brother or something. And I know it'd kill you, but maybe you could do something nice for someone as well, but I don't want to push you too far or anything.>> His sarcasm was plainly evident in his thoughts.
Then Johnny's laser-accute vision detected the highrise. He angled his wings and he began zooming downwards. And hopefully, he was leaving Rox behind.

Be nice? That was it? Be nice? Pfft. As if that will be hard to do. I'm a bit disappointed in your blackmailing skills Johnny. All those thoughts rushed through Rox's mind as she saw Johnny rocket toward the earth. She didn't know where he was headed, but she could guess.
<<Deal,>> was all she said in response. Then Rox veered away to head toward a different part of town. She was going to go find a way to 'do something nice' for the rest of her group members.
Heh, Johnny, nice punishment. A few days of playing miss goody two shoes and I got a clean slate? Nice. Poor Rox had no idea just how much work it would be to be nice. At least for her.
