Name: Inyxion-Ersathe-Yggsrel, Inyx or Nyx for short
Gender: Female
Age: Uuuuuuuuuh. Teenager-ish? >> Will do more studying.
Appearance: By Andalite standards, Inyx might be considered the equivalent of being pretty in a slightly gawkish way. Her legs are perhaps a bit too lanky and coltish to suggest maturity and power, but her facial features are easily attractive, and suggest what might become elegance in time. She stands at about 6'3 inches (minus stalk-eyes), which makes her slightly above the norm for female Andalites--when she isn't slouching, which she has a habit of doing. Her fur is a deep indigo color, and her tail blade is noticeably larger than the average females.
Inyx's human morph is a young redhead woman that she was allowed to require when she joined SPECTER. She did not have much interaction with the woman, and did not learn her name, though the acquiring was consensual. While in her human morph she prefers to clothe herself in bright colors, and has a distinct love for practical clothes rather than 'tricky' ones--like dresses and heels, which are adornments she has not yet mastered. Her facial expressions, particularly with the addition of the human mouth, are open and honest.
Personality: To say that Inyx likes human culture (at least what she has been exposed to) would be a vast understatement. She adores it--from the intriguing fashion, to the wonderful foods, to the plethora of languages, to music and art and that rather silly but immensely enjoyable act of human dancing.
Over all, she is honest, amiable, and--almost willfully, it might seem--naive. She is not easily angered (except when she feels the need to protect others), and is more likely to shy away from hostility than return it. If it is at all an option, she opts out of physical combat.
Biography: Inyx comes from a long family of warriors: even the females have had a tradition of military service (generally performing more 'feminine' duties), though only recently were they adopted formally as fighters. Physical prowess and tactical acuity were of utmost importance in the family, and as Inyx represented one of the first generations where she could aspire to being a ranking military official, she was hard pressed by her family to pursue that goal.
However, as the best laid plans of mice and Andalites often go awry, Inyx began to realize as she entered adolescence that she was more intrigued by the physics of Z-space than battleplans. If forced, she wasn't terrible with strategy--but she was never as ruthless as her elders encouraged her to be. She always stopped short of decimating her enemies, going through elaborate (and therefore ineffective) processes to incapacitate them instead.
Inyx did delight in the physical training (it all seemed a sort of rather fun game), up until the point where she was entered into a formal sparring competition not long before coming to Earth. In the match she saw what she could become in the face of her opponent, and has been unwilling to raise her tail-blade against anyone since. She travelled to Earth with a special convoy which transported gifted young students (read as: the that where truly brilliant, and those that simply enjoyed the privileges of powerful family-lines) who would represent the goodwill of the Andalite people.
While her family saw it as an opportunity for networking and career building, Inyx was just delighted by the prospect of meeting humans. Though she would never say such a dishonorable thing to anyone, in her heart of hearts she wondered if the Andalites had more to learn from humans than the humans from them. After all, it was a small group of human children (with help from legendary War Prince Elfangor's little brother, a now just as quickly legendary War Prince himself) who had defeated the greatest of the Andalites foes.
How they were recruited:
<<I don't understand. It's a ...toy.>>
"Mrs Yggsrel, it's much more than that!" The human tried his best to address the haughty mother Andalite, though the word was formed strangely in his mouth. "Please consider--this is a fully functional space-faring ship! All the applications suggest that it would even be capable of Z-space travel."
He gestured towards the miniature creation, which looked something like one might imagine a standard Andalite fighter ship--if it had had an encounter with a shrink ray. Inyx stood in the corner: she had been proud and excited when her human mentor in the ambassador project had suggested showing her most recent work to her parents. But that pride had quickly turned to shame.
"I tested out the weapons system myself!" The professor, one of the foremost human scholars on space-travel, exclaimed. He was still trying to salvage this meeting. It seemed that he was almost blind to the utter disappointment, and even disdain, that her mother expressed. It seemed he could not fathom anything less than wonder at the creation. "The lasers were powerful enough to cut through quarters like butter!"
<<Is that what she is learning here? To make weapons against your primitive currency?>>
He looked like he'd been slapped. "Your daughter is wonderfully gifted," he said, and then, though she wished he hadn't, he looked over at Inyx. Embarassed for her. Apologetic perhaps. Her shame grew, and she shifted her weight, diverting all eyes from the scene.
<<My daughter is a warrior, human! And I will not have her engaging in such frivolous pastimes! I'm withdrawing her from the program, effective immediately!>>
The professor tried in vain to argue with Inyx's mother, and in the end he was reduced to little more than begging. The fairy-tale that was Earth was quickly coming to a close for her.

"Please, come in."
Inyx entered dutifully, eyes scanning every which way. She'd been personally invited to a meeting with someone that she had been assured was at the head of the ambassador program. Her parents didn't know she was here, but they were scheduled to rejoin the fleet in no less than 48 hours.
The woman that greeted her had black hair, and her features were carefully composed. Inyx classified her as having East-Asian heritage, as far as her studies into human racial differences went. Humans were so varied! Of course, that small observation only made her more depressed about the prospect of leaving this world to return to some dome ship or another.
"Hello Inyxion Ersathe-Yggsrel." Unlike the profressor, this woman pronounced her name perfectly, despite having to vocalize it. That got Inyx's attention very quickly.
<<Hi,>> Inyx answered timidly. The woman's mouth turned up in what may have been a smile, but it was all professional.
"I see you're adapting to our customs well. Please, follow me. I believe you'll be more comfortable in next location." Dutifully, Inyx followed the woman into a small courtyard with a fountain in the middle. The grass underfoot was particularly lush and tasty, and Inyx couldn't help herself from eating a bit of it. The woman stopped near the fountain, and clasped her hands together in front of her.
"It's come to our attention that you will be withdrawing from the ambassador program." Before Inyx could try to explain that she didn't have much choice in the matter, the woman continued. "It is in my authority to offer you a career position here on Earth. You do want to stay, don't you Inyx?"
How did this woman know that? Or that that was what her human friends in the program had begun to call her, almost as soon as Inyx had introduced herself to them?
<<Wait- who are you?>> Inyx stopped munching on the rather delicious grass, and shifted her weight defensively. Her tail-blade didn't raise or tense, but she looked like she might be ready to bolt.
"My name is Agent Vixen. I represent a group of individuals interested in the protection of Earth from external threats. We're known as SPECTER: Special Persons for Emergency Contracting of Tactical Enforcement Reserves. And we believe we have a place for you within our ranks."
Inyx was stunned into silence for a moment. What did this mean? <<I am not sure I understand. And I think you have the wrong person. I do not know the first thing about protecting anyone.>>
The woman smiled tightly, thin-lipped. "You've heard of the Animorphs, correct? Jake, Tobias, Cassie, Marco, Rachel--rest in peace--and Aximili?"
Of course Inyx had heard of them.
...especially Aximili.
"You would operate as an Animorph, and be enlisted in a highly qualified group of individuals. It is a very prestigious honor, but it will also be highly classified."
<<Wait- wait no. I do not believe you understand. I am not a soldier. How did you even select me?>>
"I am not at liberty to discuss that. But you can rest assured that it is a very selective process, and that we have not made a mistake. However, this is a one-time offer. If you do not wish to accept, this will conclude all of our business together."
Inyx thought about this for a short while. Still, she couldn't get over the idea that this must be some sort of mistake. And yet...
<<And... I'll be allowed to stay on Earth?>>
Agent Vixen smiled, that same professional smile. "Yes. You will be assigned to a location where you will meet other Animorphs chosen by SPECTER. Do you accept the proposal?"
<<What will you tell my parents?>>
Seemingly content with a success, Agent Vixen nodded. "Yes, well, it would possible cause a scandal to have your death reported while acting as a student ambassador to Earth. We will have agents--Andalite representatives--meeting with your parents to let them know that you have been chosen to go on special military assignment. You will be present at this meeting, and that will be the last time you are in contact with your parents while you work for us. They will be informed that you are on a classified mission at a level above Top Secret."
The way Agent Vixen said it, as if she was completely sure that such a plan would work, chilled Inyx--because it would. Her mother and father would jump at the chance to have their daughter be involved in a super-secret military mission. But how could they know that?
What was she getting herself into? Who was this woman?
Who were these SPECTER people, indeed?
Preferred Job: Not sure yet... maybe she won't have one at the time of joining the Mariposa folks, seeing as she'd have to work to keep up her human morph a lot, and it would be difficult to acquire any animals she was in contact with.
First morph: Human, for obvious reasons. =)
