Taking in a deep breath, Ray was certon of what was to come. He had meant to come in there to get away, but now he felt a deep sense of loneliness and fear. He was used to being alone, it was something that came with the many hardships of being a criminal. If you don’t want anyone to find out about you, you don’t let anyone in far enough for them to find out.
Even throughout this, Ray felt more at home then he ever had. After speaking to Hope, he had found a bit of…Understanding. Ray wasn’t used to that. For someone caring enough to even say “Hi” let alone carry out a conversation for more than a minute. He ducked his head, pushing through the brush more and more. He didn’t want to be alone…Yet at the same time he did…

<<Where are you going?>> Rox finally asked. She had been following the new guy, Ray, for quite some time now. It wasn't easy, especially when she had to demorph and remorph. She almost lost him when she did. Rox wasn't entirely sure why she decided to follow Ray, but she was bored and it seemed like a good idea at the time.
She fluttered a little closer to where he was, now that she revealed that she was there. She was in a tree in her morph that she despised most. A white dove. <<I sure hope you aren't up to anything... shifty.>>

Ray took in another deep breath and brought his head up at the words. He blinked twice before realizing that why he had heard was the new form of communication! At least, that’s what he called it. Looking around, he tried to spot the source of the…Voice… It was vaguely farmilure, one that he had encountered only once or twice more than likely…He tried to remember who it was, try to distinguish to pitches…”Rox?” He asked, realizing it could be only her. Looking around, he tried to locate her, more than likely in morph. He couldn’t spot an animal right then and there, so he spoke softly. “You can dimorph if you want…I wasn’t planning on company down here, but I don’t want to kick you out after you fallowed me…” (Totally. Thanks for posting with me ))

<<Yeah, it's me. I'm up above you, in a tree.>> However, Rox didn't stay there for long. She decided to take him up on the demorphing idea. After a quick scan of the area to make sure nobody was nearby, she headed toward the ground.
Rox landed in the brush not far from where Ray was and concentrated on her self-image. She began to grow almost immediately. Her legs thickened and extended, and her knees reversed direction. Dark hair sprouted from her bird head and her eyes migrated to the appropriate position. Fingers sprouted from the end of her wings and Rox used them to grab a branch to keep from losing her balance. Her white feathers began to melt away, exposing her skin and morphing suit to a sudden breeze. She shivered slightly as the last changes melted away.
Rox now stood in a thicket of sharp sticks and shrubs wearing nothing but her morphing suit. A one-piece swimsuit. Needless to say, she felt a little out of place, but she tried not to let it show. "So you never answered my question. Where are you going? Or now I suppose it's where are we going."

Ray grinned when he looked up to see a white dove. “Ah, I should have figured that one out, shouldn’t have I?” His grin faded when he saw the start of her turning back into a human. He looked away quickly. He had never really gotten used to the idea of...Morphing or Demorphing. It sickened him at first, made his stomach churn. When he didn’t hear anymore cracking noises and such, he looked over and hoped that she was finally done.
She was. He took in a deep breath happily. “I’ve always hated that…” He mumbled, but quickly retained his composer. He shook his head and simply looked at where Rox was standing. He was taken aback by her question. “I really don’t know, truthfully. Just to a clearing, I guess. Never was much for places to go. Then again, I take that back.” He grinned and jumped up. “But while you’re here….I’m just curiuse, but maybe….Could you tell me why…I don’t know, you’re here? Being an Animorph or whatever. I don’t want to sound rude or anything.” He added quickly. “I’m just wondering. I don’t know anyone else’s past yet…”

Rox gave Ray a sideways look. "You want to know about my past?" She thought it was kind of odd, especially since none of her other fellow animorphs had ever bothered to ask. But then again, she didn't get along with, or hang out with, most of her other fellow animorphs.
Rox sighed. She decided to indulge Ray's curiosity. She just hoped he didn't make a habit of it. "Fine. I guess I can let you in on the big mystery," she said sarcastically. "It's because of my dad. He's the reason I'm here now." There was a hint of loathing in her voice, but not too much.
"I got in a car accident after we beat the yeerks, and I was paralyzed. Like, completely paralyzed. Couldn't walk, couldn't talk..." Rox drifted off for a second as the memory of laying in a hospital bed for over three years returned to her.
"Anyway, I guess my dad felt sorry for me. He pulled some strings and arranged for me to be hired by SPECTER in exchange for his own job. I never knew what my dad did for a living, still don't, but I guess it must have been pretty important."
"Well, as you can see, the morphing healed me. I started off in Texas, with Johnny, sorry to say, then got transfered here." Rox put her hands on her hips and rested her weight on one leg. "So what about you? What's your story? How'd you get this gig?"

Ray saw the look of surprise on her face, and quickly tried to find a way to back track. He didn’t need another enemy. What surprised him was how quickly she went into the story, and how quickly he started to feel a bit of pity to his team mate. After she finished, he shook his head. “That must have sucked…” He whispered. Upon her question, he simply shrugged. He didn’t think his was anything compared to hers, but he’d tell.
“Poor family, working family is what I was born into. So I pretty much had nothing growing up. Didn’t mind it until I got into school…Didn’t have the best experience with the others, always picking on and beating on…Got stronger later, so it was just insults then…” He smiled lightly. “And I was a criminal. A hacker and stealer. Nobody knew, nobody expected. I was just the dorky kid, after all. Specter offered me a chance to take over and erase my past, so I took it. Mine isn’t that amazing.”

"Huh." Rox instantly formed a bunch of automatic negative judgments about Ray the second he said he was a criminal. Fortunately, most of those judgments were instantly invalidated since he admitted he was a criminal. But still, Rox could tell she would be a little more leery around him for a while. At least with her valuables.
"So..." she said, trying to change the tone of the conversation. "Can you turn into anything cool yet?" She pushed her way through some unpleasant weeds, getting scratches on her legs and burs on her swimsuit as she did so.

Ray grimaced, realizing that what he had just said no doubt had given her a bad reaction to him. Still, he had to be truthful. Otherwise, when the others did find out, he no doubt would be a lier and a thief. Ray couldn’t bare that thought, as it seemed the double whammy would no doubt bring him to a loud crash.
Still, his slight grin stayed in place. The brush was thick and hard to travel through, but sooner or later they would find a clearing…He didn’t want to travel to deep in, as it seemed easy to get lost. “I only have my wolf dog morph, but it gets me by. Strong fighters, plus a great sense of smell and direction…Usually…” His eyes flickered across the land, and he smiled slightly. “You?”

"What morphs do I have? Not much. The only good morph I got so far is a shark. A blue shark, actually. I looked it up on the internet. And that's the name, not just the color. Other than that I just have the bird you saw and a goldfish morph."
Rox finally broke through a wall of especially thick foliage and stepped into a clearing. "So you can turn into a wolf dog huh? Never heard of it. I'm guessing it's a cross between a wolf and a dog?" Rox wasn't particularly interested in the answer to her question, but she had nothing else to talk about at the moment so she might as well find out.
(OOC: had to modify one of my earlier posts because she doesn't have her pelican morph yet when this takes place. oops.)

“Huh…That’s cool, I guess. Blue shark, huh? Nice…”He had never actually seen a shark, so it kind of interested him. Then again, his patience were dwindling. Then again, he guessed Rox wasn’t holding up much better. He wasn’t the best company in the world. He shrugged.
“Yeah, it is. There are a ton of them around the U.S, but most people chose to pass them off as husky’s or malamutes.” He himself was searching for subjects to talk about. His mind drew at an utter blank. Ray wasn’t used to talking to people after all. Still, he had to get used to it. Looking into the back of his mind, he tried to figure out a subject that wouldn’t bore the girl to death. He couldn’t find one, so he just picked out one that might take a longer route. “You like animals?”

"Hah! Haha!" The question caught her of guard, even though it probably shouldn't have. For some reason Rox couldn't keep from laughing at the thought. "Haha, good one. As if."
It took Rox a couple moments to regain a bit of restraint. "Heh. Yeah, no. I'm not much of an animal person. They're just little bags of meat that get into your garbage or poop on you're lawn. Yeah, sure, they have their uses, but that doesn't make me want to go hug a cuddly koala or anything. Know what I mean?"
"How 'bout you? Bet you're a nature freak, seeing as how you randomly went for a stroll out here." Perhaps what Rox said was a bit insensitive, but Rox wasn't exactly known for her sensitivity. She didn't let her 'accusation' weigh down on her conscience even slightly.

Ray raised a brow at how she laughed, and he found himself wanting to attack the girl…Oh well, he could restrain himself. He’d had much worse as a kid. Calming himself, he listened to her. Ray had to clench his fists when she spoke about animals like that, but he guessed that’s how some people saw them. Not all of them were in love.
“Yeah, I like animals. Was raised on a farm with them. But I can see you’re point, I guess.” He paused a second, searching his parade of questions. “What’s your view on humans, then? Just wondering, you know. I’ve met people with different ideals and such.” He closed his eyes slightly, trying to remain focus on the goal at hand. Make at least aqantences with her, you idiot…He reminded himself.

"A farm boy, huh? Well I guess it's a good thing you like animals than. It would be pretty hard to grow up around them if you hated them." Rox envied Ray even less now than she had before. If that was even possible. She could not imagine herself growing up on a farm. Not at all.
Rox thought for a second about his newest question, sitting down on a fallen log as she did so. "I guess I view humans a lot like I view animals. Just walking, talking, bags of meat." Rox shrugged. She didn't know what else to say for her explanation. "Why? Do you think we're special or something? Even now that we know we aren't the only intelligent life forms out there?"

Ray had to grit his teeth as she spoke. He wasn’t used to having conversations so straightforward, but he could adjust. He always had. Ray took in a bit of air before commenting again on the farm boy remark. “Yeah, it’s a good thing I guess…My sister went crazy there.” He thought a moment then explained. “She has the same view on animals as you.”
Upon what she thought about humans, he just about sighed in relief. He thought for sure she would have been one of those people that hate animals but think humans are saints. Ray felt suddenly at ease when he found out she wasn’t. It was one of his many pet peeves. “Actully, I have the same view as you.” He said, shrugging.
