Ray sat up on full haunches at that. <<Oh, I had no therie that you would let me off empty ha-…Er…Paweded? I don’t know. Anyways, I have an open ear for all.” He twitched both of them and smiled a playful smile. Though, it could have been mistaken for a growl gesture too…But that was besides that point!
He watched as Rox took off and felt as his muscles tensed, his eyes became aware of everything around him. Suddenly, he took off and fallowed the bird, his instincts only taking part for a second before he maintained control. He managed to skid away from a few branches, but nearly missed a tree stump.

<<Careful there, wolf-boy. I don't want to have to explain to the others how you broke your neck from crashing into a tree stump. I'm sure they already dislike me enough as it is. Last thing I need to be is the bearer of bad news.>>
Rox dodged and swooped around the branches of trees. It slowed her down a lot more than flying over them would have, but it was also more interesting. Not to mention she wouldn't have to worry as much about predators flying above. That was just one of the many worries that was always at the back of this dove morph's mind.
Just then, Rox saw something up ahead. It was a coyote crawling through the bushes! <<Umm, Ray. There's a wild coyote up ahead... Careful.>>

<<Feisty, I like that.>> His face was full of a joy as he hopped over it, again trying to run over and get off to a good start off. He pushed off the stump and grinned at her. <<Nothing to it. Trust me, I doubt they would really care. After all, you’re healed after a morph, right? I’m safe…>> He knew not what else to say, for he was not only having a good time but couldn’t help the rush of adrenalin.
Ray stared ahead when he finally found what was wrong. Coyote. Not that freighting to a human, not that freighting to a wolf. None the less, he found himself straying to the side, staring at the animal. <I just hope it’s not another…You know, animorph in descise?> He opened to Rox privately. If it was another, he couldn’t think about what would happen to his thoughts were being listened to.

<<An animorph in disguise?>> Rox looked at the snarling canine and definitely had her doubts. <<I... don't think so. But I suppose it's easy enough to ask.>> Rox extended her thought speech so that it would include the coyote in the conversation. <<Hey, Snaggletooth! You an animorph?>> The coyote started growling louder and spittle bubbled out of its mouth. Rox narrowed down her thought speech again so that only Ray could hear. <<Dude, I think it might have rabies. Maybe we->> Rox stopped mid-sentence as the creature lunged toward Ray. (OOC: feel free to have the coyote do whatever you want. I have no particular plot in mind for this situation. )

<<Okay then, we now know that’s out of the picture….It’s always better to ask though, I guess….>> He said as his maw curled open and he let out a high pitched yowl. <<And…>> As the coyote ran up, he gave a large snarl and hopped back, hoping to get it away from Rox. A coyote verses a dove wouldn’t be the best experiment to try out…At least not then.
<<Coyotes are usually afraid of humans, but if it does have rabies, we’re pretty much screwed on that aspect. And by the looks of it, it does…If I can get a bite on it, it should run away. Do you have anything more powerful or less…You know, edible?>> Again he backed away, reminding himself that if he did get bit he could go back to human form and everything would be find.
Ooc-Same here, really ^^.

Rox momentarily considered dive-bombing the beast, but quickly decided against it. Even if she thought it would do any good, it was still way too risky. Especially since Ray's life wasn't exactly threatened yet. And Ray seemed to have similar thoughts when he made the 'edible' comment.
<<I think you're on your own for this one, Ray. I'm going to stay up here in the branches where it's safe. Even if I did have another morph that didn't have gills, it would still take me at least four minutes to turn into it.>> Rox said all of this as the coyote circled around Ray, growling and looking for a chance to strike at him. <Just give him the one two punch and lets get outa here.>>

Ace sighed and growled. <<Fine, fine!>> he yelped, trying to get around. He couldn’t think of another thing to do, so he simply dodged a few and thought about what to do next. Aproaching the coyote in a friendly maner was out of the question…But fighting it might not be such a bad idea. Growling, he lunged and quickly backtracked.
Feeling no fear and only adrenalin at the time, his eyes narrowed and he lunged yet again, this time scoring a slight nip. His muscles tensed as he went one more time. This thing was Rabid! It didn’t even try to escape! None the less, he forced himself to keep going. As he finally hit him again, Ray felt a large amount of pain in his left shoulder blade. As the coyote ran away, Ray looked up at Rox. <<I’m morphing back, kay? This coyote was dang rabid…>>

Rox winced as the two canines attacked each other, but she didn't look away. The fight definitely wasn't as gruesome as it could have been, but that still didn't make it easy to watch. She was just glad that Ray was the victor.
<<Yeah, go ahead and demorph. I'll keep watch and let you know if the coyote comes back.>> By the looks of it, it was already long gone. <<I really hope rabies is demorphable, because if it isn't, we're in trouble.>> Rox didn't even want to think of the problems it would bring up if one of their team members got rabies.
(OOC: In case you were wondering, rabies is demorphable. Marco got bit by a rabid dog in one of the books and morphed away the disease.)

((ooc-Yep, I read that one ^^ Thanks though. Sorry if that wasn’t very realistic, I just couldn’t think of much else right then)
Ray looked up at Rox, nodded, and focused on his human form. Rabies was a slow moving disease, so he didn’t feel much of it in him anyways. None the less, the bite mark was burning with the feel of infection, a thing that he was not used to.
The wolf focused harder and began to be rid of his tail. During the same prossess, the two back paws and the two front legs suddenly began to get rid of their fur, reviling a blackish skin color. Slowly he came out of the morph, feeling only a bit of relief upon looking at where the bite had been.
“Didn’t think much of it, but I guess if the bite went away it’s pretty certon the rabies will go away too, right?” He looked up at Rox and gave a light smile. The dove was perched somewhere, but truthfully he was still trying to get used to his human eyes.

<<Yeah, it looks like it went away...>> Rox wasn't so sure though. She knew morphing healed injuries, but diseases were something different. <<But if I remember correctly, doesn't rabies take a couple days to set in?>> It was a rhetorical question. Mostly.
<<I wonder... Say, do you think it would work to morph into something that can't get rabies? To be 100% sure that you don't have the disease? You could morph, hmm, like a gnat or a bumblebee, or an oyster or something>> If Rox had been human, she would have shrugged. <<Not that I would blame you if you don't want too. Those all sound pretty gross.>>

“I guess that’s right…and yes, rabies takes a good two days at least to set in…I do have a false honey ant…It can’t get rabies because it can’t be transferred…And it’s a fairly easy morph…That’s a good idea, I’ll try it. Just in case, you know?” Blinking, Ray transferred his weight forward, trying to prepare for the feeling of falling that he hated when turning into the insect.
He didn’t enjoy the sounds that he could hear, but none the less allowed the morph to come through. Ray waited only a few seconds before turning back his human form, closing his eyes and focusing on his body instead of the noises that were entering his eardrums. “That should have worked…I hope…It’ll be hard trying to explain to Specter how an Animorph managed to get rabies while he wasn’t on a mission, eh?”

Rox looked away when Ray started morphing the ant. Or whatever it was that he said it was. Even so, she couldn't help but glance down at him every so often. It was disgusting to see. She was very thankful that she wasn't in one of those bird morphs that had binocular vision. Even with the dove's poor eyesight, the small glimpses of the morphing process she saw was enough to remind Rox why she didn't really care for morphing.
<<Yeah, I hope that worked too,>> Rox replied after Ray became human once again. <<Lets just... assume it did and go home. I'm getting sick of this forest.>> It was a poor attempt at an excuse, but Rox didn't care. That bug morph made her feel a bit queasy and she just wanted to go home and forget about it in front of the TV.
One thing was for sure, though. Rox was going to try and avoid morphing a bug for as long as possible. She was going to stick to animals that at least had a spine.

Ray looked up, staring hopefully at Rox. Silently, he began to morph again, into his wolf-dog form. He didn’t enjoy it, but it would be worth it. The adrenalin rush was always worth it when he was in that form. Ray silently watched as Rox started to talk about leaving. <<I’ll go to, Rox. Again, thanks…and don’t tell the others about this whole thing, please? To have been bitten by something as mangy as a coyote is a little…Embarising.>>
Ray didn’t wait for an awnser. Instead, his muscles tensed and he got ready to run out of the woods. It was cold and damp, just the way he liked it. But it was also dark and lonely, and would become even more so when Rox left. He didn’t transfer anything through thought speech, but still thought to himself, <This would be a great place to live..>
