Be Wary of the Warehouse

[Leroy]

(OOC: We can assume that even people who have not posted yet have arrived by this point if you want to be included)

Leroy was sitting on the couch, reading a magazine, when there was a knock at the door. Were they getting another member for their group? Quite a few people had arrived over the past couple days. He wasn't sure how many more the apartment could handle. In any case, Leroy went to see who it was.

He opened the door and someone in a uniform was standing there. "Delivery for S. P. Ecter?" the man at the door said questioningly. S. P. Ecter? Who is that? Leroy wondered. Then he read the name. Oh. He signed for it and the delivery person left.

"You guys! We got a package!" he yelled as he began to open it. Inside of the box were a bunch of packaging peanuts, and within the packaging peanuts rested an official looking envelope. He opened the envelope and read what it said aloud.

Northwest corner of 4th street and Eleanor Drive. 9:00 pm tonight. Warehouse Seven. Keep a low profile and use extreme caution.

"What in the world does that mean?" Leroy asked when he finished reading it. Were they supposed to go there? He looked at the clock. It was already 7:15

Nicolai came into the room when he heard Leroy call. He had been hoping to hear whether he was going to be transfered to a different location or not. Apparently, this wasn't the package he had been waiting for.

"S. P. Ecter," he muttered. "I don't know who is in charge here, but they've got zero imagination. I mean...God, this is like some ridiculous spy movie." Then he caught sight of himself in the mirror, in full clown uniform. "Then again, I bet there was never a movie where the spy dressed up like this..." The he remembered something. "Oh, right. Double-Oh-Nine did it in Octopussy. And Bond did it later in the same movie..."

To Leroy, he said, "Yeah; I think it's pretty obvious that they want us there. And they want us packing. And they want us invisible. Which means I should probably change. This makeup and wig might make me impossible to identify, but do you have any idea how suspicious a clown looks lurking around warehouses?"

Nadia felt like sleeping when Leroy yelled, causing her to jump. "Leroy! What the heck is that?!" She held her hand to her heart and calmed a little. "What is it?" She said, smiling. She tilted her head to the side and said, "You know, I don't think I can look like that either. How many circus people are on the street?"

Ten million....? Nadia laughed to herself and said, "Shall we go?" Then she thought. "How should we get there? Train? Airplane? Superman?" Wait, did I say that out loud? Curse my movie references...

[inyx]

Inyx had not quite gotten the hang of knocking yet. She had been out for a short walk (scoping out the places where she could come graze under the cover of nightfall), and when she came back she decided she wanted to practice this human custom. After all, you were supposed to do it before entering buildings, right?

So she knocked. Not just once or twice or even three times though: she continued the motion without pause. It made an interesting sound against the door, and she had to try the experiment several times on other parts of the door... listening for the various thicknesses.

[Johnny]

"Inyx, you know you can just go on inside, right?" Johnny asked as he walked up to the alien. "You don't have to keep knocking." Then he opened the door to the apartment and saw Leroy, Nick, and whats-her-face in the room. With a package.

"Oh, hey guys! Is that for me, Leroy?" Johnny said, indicating the package with a finger. He stood there for a moment before strolling to his room which he entered and closed the door. THen he changed shirts. The dark red t-shirt that every pet store employee had to wear was really not what Johnny would have picked. He put on a black t-shirt and a jean jacket before exiting his room.

[Allie]

Allie arrived shortly after Johnny and Inyx, going in just behind Johnny and still wearing her ranch clothes. She stopped in the doorway, staring at the group in the main room especially once Johnny came back out to join them. "Ok, before anyone comments on how I smell like a barn, why are we all congregating around Leroy and a package?"

Before anyone could answer, Allie squeezed her way in and read the letter in Leroy's hand. "Well that's a waste of space," she commented. A box when all they were receiving was a letter seemed so rediculous. "but it doesn't look like we have a choice about showing up."

[Leroy]

This was so sudden and unexpected that Leroy wasn't sure what to do. At least everyone was here now, so their entire team could work together on this. "I suppose we should take a bus there. Unless we should walk. We won't all fit in a cab."

Leroy looked at all or their faces to see if he could figure out what they were thinking, although he never could. Nicolai with his clown face, Nadia, Allie, Johnny, and Inyx in morph. It was hard to think of Inyx as an alien just by looking at her. "He reread the note quickly for the new arrivals, then continued with the discussion.

"I suppose we can't get much decided without seeing the place first." Leroy went to grab his jacket from a hook by the door. "We can talk on the way, at the very least. As long as we keep it quiet, that is." Leroy put on his jacket then looked back to see what the others thought.

"Hang on a minute," Nicolai protested. "You really think it's a good idea for us all to go there together? Taking the same route? At the same time? That sounds like terrible security to me. Heck, I don't even like the idea of us all living together.. I say if we're doing this, and it doesn't seem like we have much choice since we signed up for this job, we don't all go together. Some of us take cabs, some take the bus, hell, maybe someone walks. "

Nicolai went into the bathroom and cleaned the makeup off of his face. By now, he was an expert at it. It didn't take long. He changed into his usual clothes. Pretty soon, no one would have ever guessed that he spent his time as a smiling circus clown.

He got the usual things he carried when he went off on some mission. A phone, some cash, a flask of rum, and a knife. "So, who wants to ride with Nicolai?" he asked the group, winking at Nadia.

[Allie]

Allie listened to things for a moment. "I agree with Nicolai, we don't want to all stick together. It seems more suspicious. The fact that we all live together would have to be taken up with SPECTER, but as long as we have control over this we should do it the safest way possible."

After putting in her two cents she had one last thing to say. "And now, I have to go change. I don't want to smell like horses and cattle the whole time we're out there." Nicolai also left, probably to change out of his clown costume.

She pulled off her outer layer, the morphing suit she always wore under her work clothes remaining for the moment as she went and slipped into jeans, a solid color t-shirt, and a windbreaker. After this she returned to the group just moments after Nicolai. "I'll take a cab or walk, either way probably on my own."

((Anyone can do the time jump, but I wanted to make sure Allie got to change.))

Nadia blinked at Nicolai when he winked at her, and shook her head afterwards. After a quick change, she said, "Well, however we get there, we should do so now. Wouldn't want to be late!" She felt giddy at the moment. Who knew if she would after the warehouse...

Twenty minutes later, Nadia stood close to the warehouse and knew that others were there as well. "What's the plan?" she whispered to no one in particular. She was anxious to try her panther morph; it was a gorgeous animal.

[Nate]

<<Looks all clear from here guys,>> Nate called down from the sky where he flew in his kestrel morph, surveying the surroundings. <<No one in sight except a passed out homeless guy in an alley a few blocks down. He looks rank, but harmless.>>

He'd arrived in the warehouse area a bit later than the rest had, having gotten the call at work that they had received a mission. Instead of discussing the plan on the phone where others could be listening, he headed home and caught up on the note himself, and took off after them in the skies.

This better be worth it he thought to himself as he swooped in low for a landing.

[inyx]

"I do not mind walking! I am getting very good with walking on two human legs! I only fell down three times on my most recent walk," Inyx boasted proudly. Her mouth opened into a wide grin that expressed nothing other than simple, joyful pride. "However, I would like to request company. I have not yet perfected walking and talking at once!"

Well, and she also really just wanted someone to walk with her. She hadn't learned as much about her comrades as she wanted, and she was anxious to know more about them.

"Is this our destination?" Inyx asked, turning to her walking companion(s).

((OOC: this is assuming that at least one person takes up Inyx on her walking idea. if no one wants to walk with her, I'll mod or something))

[Leroy]

<<I think so,>> Leroy said to Inyx. He was in his doberman morph so that he would be able to smell and hear things better. Best to cover as many senses as possible was his reasoning behind it. Another reason was because he didn't really want to be seen walking with Inyx as a human. She was nice and all, but she was kind of weird too. But she had a good excuse since she wasn't even human. So Leroy's wariness about being seen with Inyx was for purely shallow reasons.

<<We haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary down here yet either, Nate.>> The warehouse looked like a building straight out of a movie. Tall, bland, dirty, and eerie. <<So should we go in, or just watch the outside?>> he asked everyone. He had never been on a stakeout before, and he was a bit unsure what they should do. He doubted any of his other teammates had done anything like this either. Well, maybe Nicolai, but he had no evidence to back that up.

[Johnny]

<<I agree with Leroy,>> Johnny said from his perch on Inyx's left shoulder. He had taken her up on her offer to having a walking partner. Although Johnny was walking, just hitching a ride. A bumpy ride. Humans were built to ride on the shoulders of. <<This looks like the address the note said.>>

He had also chosen to ride becuase if there was any danger there, he did not want to be caught in the crossfire. A human stuck out WAY more than a gecko ever did. Not that he was hoping for a firefight. And he had picked Inyx's shoulder because then he would have a good view of everything within a short range. And he didn't have to walk.

<<I'm voting for a few of us staying outside and one or two of us go in. Maybe a certain weevil, barn cat, and gecko?>> Johnny suggested. <<What do you all think?>>

[inyx]

Inyx didn't join in the decision-making. She was happy to follow whatever they decided. There was a distant murmuring of tactical training piping up in the back of her mind, but it was easy enough to ignore. Mostly she was just glad that Johnny and Leroy had taken her up on her offer--it had been nice to have walking companions, even if they weren't in their human forms.

<<I will stay outside and keep watch, unless you'd like me to go inside? This is currently my only morph, and it may be conspicuous. Perhaps not as conspicuous as my real body...>>
