Xylia snagged Toby's tail just as the fox turned to run off. At the warning though, she stopped her excitement and looked at Leroy <<Oh yea, then your a nothlit.>> she spoke. Tobias had been like that, stuck as a bird for the rest of his life. Xylia straightened herself out and sat down, as exciting as it was to be a fox she reconsidered the thought of being one forever. Besides, she was planning on returning to her family someday. Her father wouldn't exactly take it too well if she pranced up to him and said in thought speak that she was his supposedly dead daughter.
She could feel Toby behind her prepared to tackle her again, but before that an ear shifted towards the door. Someone else was here. Lifting her snout she confirmed that it was a human. Xylia watched curiously beside Toby as Leroy jumped at the arrival. She guess she could've said something to him....
Leroy's introduction sounded a lot like a new and interesting challenge to both her own mind and the the fox within her. Sitting down beside Toby who had taken to observing this newcomer she giggle <<Nice to meet you Jeremy. Can you pick me out?>> she asked

Jeremy wasn't about to try to guess. He usually didn't like relying on luck. "How about I talk to the ceiling instead?" he said, staring up. "Nice to meet you. I'd take a guess, but there's really really no way I could get it right, so I'll pass." He also was not in the best of moods today. He hoped just a little bit that the new girl... Xylia? Was it? He hoped she wouldn't think too horribly of him for it, but he just didn't want to play games at the moment.
Of course, the playfulness might not be hers. He knew most people found canines to be playful creatures when they morphed them, so maybe the fox wanted to play, not Xylia. BUt asking him to guess that would be like asking him to guess which one was the real fox and which was the animorph.

The fox within the girl was disappointed at the prospective game coming to an end, but Xylia merely smiled to herself in understanding. Her fox nose could sense the tension coming from. She figured he either didn't like newcomers, or had a bad day.
Walking forward she pawed at his pants leg. Her little brush of a tail waving high in the air. <<Don't make me jealous of the ceiling, I'm right here. Xylia, nice to meet you>> she said.
Something made the girl look towards the clock ticking above near the living room. She had been in morph for quite awhile, and like she said, being stuck as a morph may have seemed great at first, but it wasn't a wish she wanted to see come true.
<<Look at the time, I think I'm going to demorph.>> she said walking towards her room. She couldn't figure out which was true with this Jeremy guy; whether he just didn't like a new animorph or he had a bad day. Either way she figured he might want to talk to Leroy for a minute without a naive newbie listening in. At the entrance to her door she gave a fox yip to Toby who ran towards his new friend happily. When inside she raised her paws towards the door and shove it closed.

"So, what do you think of the newest addition to our team?" Leroy asked Jeremy after Xylia had closed the door to her room. Then he mouthed and mimed the words 'she can probably hear you' to Jeremy. Leroy had been a dog before and so knew how well canines could hear.
"She seems promising, I think. She has a good attitude anyway. And hopefully the more people we have helping us, the easier our tough missions will become." Leroy knew that Jeremy wanted to find his family's killers, and he also knew it would be difficult. But hopefully Xylia would make it easier. Somehow.

"If she can stay focused, then she'll be an enthusiastic member," Jeremy said. He decided not to say that he couldn't really see her as focused. "And enthusiasm can be good, if it's not overused." Leroy reminded him that with more people, missions would be easier. While Jeremy agreed, he didn't think Xylia would always be an asset. She certainly seemed to have a refreshing curiosity, but that curiosity could get her into trouble that the rest of the team would have to stop and get her out of.
Or she would have to be left behind.
"Also, how many pets do we plan on having in here?" he asked. "We also need room for humans and andalites, you know."

Upon entering the room Xylia had immediately began to demorph. Unlike last time, she closed her eyes before she began the process. She was starting to get the feeling that morphing was disgusting every time and she didn't want to faint halfway in the stages to becoming human.
Standing up straight again, the girl looked around her room before petting Toby, "It's weird how dull my senses feel now." she remarks to the fox with a smile, "You are a very sharp animal."
Now that she no longer how the mind of a fox her curiosity wasn't as overwhelming anymore this relieved her somewhat, her own curiosity was already too much to handle sometimes, but she wished she could have kept the foxes confidence and joy. Sitting on the bed, Xylia hugs herself, "Okay, I can do this." she says before standing up.
Xylia finds her slightly sagging jeans, a red tank top and a very color bandanna to tie around her head. Back in the comfortable, wacky style she loved she opens the door just in time to hear Jeremy's last statement.
"Toby won't be a bother. I'll keep her in my room away from everyone else." She states as she re enters the room. Finding her hat abandoned on the ground she picks it up and brushes it off, "Unless those Specter jerks don't mind me moving out." She didn't really want to move out though. Xylia grew up around noise and crampness with four men and a girl trying to live in a two bedroom. The idea of having all of that space was chilling. She could hardly stand her room in their apartment.

"As long as we don't become like one of those crazy cat ladies, I don't really care how many pets we have here. As long as they are house broken," Leroy added to the conversation. "But then again I'm not the king of the apartment, so it really isn't up to me anyway." Leroy shrugged. The fox was here now and he wasn't about to kick cute little Toby out onto the street, but Jeremy did have a point. Maybe.
Xylia's question about moving out was... interesting. For some reason the thought had never occurred to Leroy. He just sort of assumed that he had to live in the same place as the other animorphs. "You want to move out? I... I don't know if SPECTER will let you. Or if there is even a way to ask them. Besides, it would probably just make it that much harder for us to keep in touch with each other." Leroy shrugged again. If Xylia really wanted to pursue moving out, Leroy wasn't going to try and stop her. But if she was seriously considering it, he really hoped she would reconsider.

Oddly enough, Jeremy could almost see Xylia as a crazy cat lady. But he tried to make himself be nice. "We won't force you to move out," he said. "I just meant that there is definitely such a thing as too many pets." He glanced down at the fox. "I didn't mean that I didn't want the fox to stay. As long as it doesn't crap in my stuff."
He decided to change the subject. "So, where are you from? How'd you die?" He immediately regretted the questions, since he was sure the answers would be long, especially given how distracted she seemed. Even more than that, though, was the fact that he might soon find the questions headed back his way.

Xylia makes a face towards Leroy as he talks about cats. Shaking her head she glances towards her closed bedroom door, "Well I certainly cant be a cat lady when I don't like cats."
Glancing back, she caught the hesitation in Leroy when she mentioned moving out. Before she could answer that however Jeremy broke in. She smiled with a casual shrug, "I'll keep the fox under control. Besides, I don't like the idea of moving out. Don't like goin solo." she admits.
Jeremy's next question surprised her a bit. Usually people asked, 'so what do you do?' or 'what are your interests?' it was the first time she had been asked 'how did you die?' The question made her shift on her feet. Animorph or not that was a bit too close to home for someone she just met. Still, she had to be nice to her comrades.
"I'm from Watts in South Cal," She explained before starting to walk into the kitchen, "Apparently, I went to the upper apartments to check on a complaint. Died of carbon monoxide leak." she tells him briefly before flashing a smile, "Who wants dinner? I used to run a restaurant so I got mad skills in a kitchen! Order anything you want!" she says wanting a subject change. She was curious about their pasts, but next thing she knew Jeremy would be asking about her family life. Maybe when she got to know him better she would be more willing to share but at the moment she just wanted to focus on the present.

"Well it's about time we got someone who can cook around here," Leroy said with a wink. "I'm up for whatever you are in the mood to cook. You won't hear me complaining." Leroy started making his way toward the apartment's kitchen area.
"I'm from Dallas, myself," Leroy said, making small talk. "So I didn't even have to leave the state when I died. That seems like forever ago now though..." Leroy suddenly missed his family again. His mom, his dad, his older brother. He wondered what they would say if they knew what he was doing now. Hopefully they would be proud.

Jeremy certainly liked the idea of someone who could actually cook. He'd often gone on business trips around the world with his dad, and he was used to some variety to his dinner. He was starting to get very sick of microwaveable food and leftovers. He was still very sore about being invited to Olive Garden by SPECTER and getting only chocolate milk for his troubles.
The conversation had moved back to him. He still didn't want to say very much. "From Washington," he said. "I, uh, had an unfortunate accident at a party. You understand."

Xylia listens as she ruffles through the cabinets in search of ingredients. She had over-bought a lot of raw ingredients the first day she arrived. Not used to shopping for less than 30 she was a bit glad now that she had gone over-board. Now the menu was endless."Alright, how about some Saute shrimp with fresh asparagus pasta salad and loaded potatoes. My gift to everyone in the house!" Xylia smiles as she pulls out the ingredients. She listens to their stories. "Dallas and Washington, two hotshot places." she muses.
Opening up the refrigerator and pulling out the raw shrimp the girl closes the door with her hip, "So since you've been here, any run in with whoever the baddies are?" she asks. Actually, the Specter guys had been pretty cryptic with her on who they were fighting. She sort of guessed it was just an attempt to aid regular law enforcement.

Leroy's mouth was watering at just the sound of the food Xylia was planning on preparing. It sounded like it would be tastier than anything he have hoped for. And it definitely sounded fancier than anything he could make himself.
Leroy briefly considered making a comment about acquiring the shrimp before they ate them, but he didn't really like the way that sounded so he held his tongue. Besides, why would he ever want to turn into a shrimp? And chances are that they weren't alive anyway. He doubted that shrimp were like lobsters, which had to be alive when you cooked them.
"So since you've been here, any run in with whoever the baddies are?" Xylia asked, interrupting his thoughts.
"You'll have to ask Jeremy about that one," Leroy said as he pointed a thumb at Jeremy. "He's kind of... in charge, of our latest mission."

There it was. There was no escaping the question. Still, he didn't really need to tell how he became involved, right? "Well..." Wait, did Leroy just say that he was in charge? Since when? He was one of the newer people, wasn't he? Well, he supposed he had been here for a while now. But he didn't think he was a senior enough member to be in charge...
He still needed to answer her question.
"There's a terrorist organization," he said. "They don't like aliens. Or people who are involved with aliens." He bit back a few things he would love to call them. She didn't need to know how much he hated them. That would lead to questions he just didn't feel like answering. They also don't like people who want to learn, or people who respect others who aren't like them, or anyone who's a decent human being... He tried to smile and tried to hide the fact that his fists were clenched so hard they were shaking. "Anyway, they've come here to Mariposa and we need to remedy that."

"So we are getting rid of terrorists?" That didn't sound like local law enforcement. Xylia looked away from her sauteing shrimp to look at Jeremy. There was something definitely personal between this group and him. If the strained and straightforward voice weren't enough the fists ready to punch a nearby wall were flashing sirens.
He wasn't telling her something. Definitely not mentioning some important information. While her curiosity was perked she chose not to question it now. When she gained his trust, later, but she liked the wall just where it was and didn't want to see the house redecorated.
"You said they don't like aliens...like Andalites?" She asks with some interest. Being from a rough neighborhood she had never seen an Andalite before, but everyone knew about them. She wondered if maybe they had seen some Andalites but kept that question to herself. She didn't want to sound like an obsessed fan girl, but the blades on their tails were too cool.
"Any idea where these jerks are?" She asks going back to the terrorists.
