Jimmy put down his guitar case and luggages, and looked around at his new room. He has arrived in Texas, and it took a long time before he found the apartment. The dark-eyes woman who claimed herself as Agent Noelle didn't give much directions. But that was an usual thing for Jimmy -- ambigousity.
"Texas," he said to himself. "Stevie Ray's hometown."
He had confirmed to the landlord, but the neighbourhood were still unknown for him. Maybe he should check around. He was not used to introduce himself to people, (Hayley always introduced him to people) but now he's in a new place. Perhaps it would be better for him to become more social. Besides, he has a lot of things to ask. And now the time to find the answers has begin.

Emily had seen the newcomer go into the building and had followed him up the stairs. Since she was new here too, it was nice to know others in the same boat. She knocked lightly on the door, then waited patiently for an answer. She wondered what he would be like. Shadow sat at her side, sniffing at the door. "You won't learn anything from a door," she scolded gently, then thought about cop dogs. But they knew what to smell for. She wondered what this new person would be like. She hoped he was friendly.

"Okay, guess should be going now," Jimmy said to himself, really trying to push that out. But before he moved to the door, someone has knocked on it. He was a little surprised, but decided to open it after a few seconds.
The girl who was standing at the door smiled at him. Jimmy realized that there was a dog right beside her. The dog sniffed at him. A black labrador. The dog was somehow looked more aggressive than the master. The girl was still smiling at him... strange for Jimmy to feel, but it looked like she waited for some words to come from his mouth.
His ineloquence was coming again.
"Err..." said Jimmy. "Yes? Are you looking for me?"

Emily smiled and tilted her head slightly. "Depends on what you mean by looking for. I had seen you come in, and was wanting to meet a fellow newbie. I don't know you from another, so I wasn't looking for you in need." She blushed slightly as she realized how awkward that sounded. She quickly held out her hand. "I'm Emily, who are you?"
Shadow had relaxed by now, but still watched the man carefully, prepared in case he tried anything funny.

Jimmy realized that he had picked the wrong words. He was too nervous to act. But the manner of the girl put him into a more comfortable state. And... the dog also didn't do anything. He gained back his consciousness, and decided to try acting as nice as the girl, who now held out her hand and introduced herself.
"Err... my name is Jimmy. Jimmy Black," Jimmy received the warm handshake. "Nice to meet you, Emily."
Then something rushed in his mind. This girl walks around with a dog. Maybe she's also a "recruited" Animorph, just like him. But how could he find out? Jimmy looked at Emily's face, trying to read her emotions. The thing that he always do.

Emily recognized the look on Jimmy's face and had to smile. He wanted to ask her a question. And she knew which one it was. "Yes, I'm an animorph. This is Shadow. My "other half" as it were. Or another parent. Whichever you care to call it. He's very protective." She reached down and rubbed Shadow's head affectionately.
"So black lab was my first morph, and then Sky Song came into the picture, so a mouse grey quarter horse was the second," she said with a smile. "What's yours?" she asked with a friendly smile.

So that was true. Well, as the first person he met in the apartment, Jimmy thought that Emily is not bad at all. He wasn't surprised that the girl can guess what was clouding inside his mind. But Jimmy was in the other hand concerned about the way she called the dog as "another parent".
"Err... morph?" Emily asked her about his morphs. He remembered the dying black cat. "Well... actually, I have acquired a cat, but I never tried yet." Then another question rushed in his mind. "Emily, are you still new too in this apartment? I mean... how long have you stayed here, if I'm allowed to know?"
Actually, he was thinking that maybe Emily could introduce him to other people. That would be easier rather than doing it himself.

"Actually I just moved in yesterday so I haven't had much time to get to know the area. But if you're willing to take on this new place with another newbie... we can explore together. They promised me a job here, so I should find that place too. As well as a few other things." She thought of her apartment, still on hold, planning on fixing it up so it suited her. She really needed to figure out what it was going to be.
She tilted her head, looking at Jimmy. She sensed the awkwardness about him, and remembered her first day when Jeremy had come to see her. But then she had Shadow as backup... she wondered what she'd do without him. His presense took away her own fear. She needed to get Shadow a girlfriend. She laughed at that thought. Though she was certain that Shadow wouldn't mind the idea. And a stallion for Sky Song.

Jimmy almost forgot about the job. The agent definitely said something about that, but now he could hardly remember. She said that the job would be something that "affect" his heart. What kind of job it is, then -- they won't send him to become a musician again, will them? Thinking about that, Jimmy suddenly remembered his luggages.
"That would be nice," said him. "But I'm afraid you might have something else to do. Maybe like... setting your room or something? Well, if you don't... we could get a walk-around in this place. How about that, Emily?"
He's really trying to be nice. He doesn't want to get bad impression at the first fellow in this new town. Now it just come to his mind that he'd probably need Hayley as his partner. An "eccentric" outgoing girl to accompany a "fierce-looking" silent awkward guy. Oh, boy.

Emily chuckled good naturedly. "I'm not as crazy as I appear," she assured him, her eyes twinkling with merriment. "And we all have something to do, I'm sure, when we get here. But it's always best to get a lay of the land, don't you think?" She reached down and rubbed Shadow's head, who had calmed down and was now sniffing at the man's pant leg curiously. "You'll have to forgive him. He's extremely nosey," she apologized, trying not to grin when Shadow shot her a dirty look.
Shadow was almost human, or she was almost animal. He understood her either way, no matter what she said. And he knew when he was insulted. "You know you're my guardian angel Shadow," she said affectionately. She looked back up at Jimmy. "So what do you like to do?

"If you think that would be better, then we could check around together," Jimmy was relieved to hear the girl's honest words. The attitude was pure, and honest... He remembered of the stage and crowd in Seattle. The only place where he could be a sincere and not-awkward person is on a stage, with Hayley and Bowie, pushing notes with his Stratocaster and sing out loud. But this girl can be honest anywhere, anytime, with no fear or bad perception of what people would throw at her.
Jimmy was interested. He wanted to know more about Emily. And Shadow, too. "Is it okay to you? And maybe we can get to know about each other."

Emily raised an eyebrow at the way he worded his last comment, but said nothing. Smiling she nodded. "Nothing opens a person up like a nice comfortable chat while walking. And I am in my comfortable shoes," she lifted a foot to show her well used runners. She was a firm believer in using shoes until they fell apart. Mostly because the shoes she chose were comfortable to the end. It was either that, or barefoot. Grass did feel great under the feet.
"Shall we go?" she asked, stepping back out of the door and waiting, hands in her jean pockets and Shadow standing next to her, tail wagging eagerly. He did love his walks. With or without anyone else. Though Emily had to be involved. He couldn't trust anyone else alone with her. Except for maybe Sky Song... but even she couldn't be everywhere HE could go.

Jimmy read the eyebrow move. Did I say it in a wrong way again? Man, I really need a social lesson. "Okay. So..." He thought twice before picking the words. "Let's go now, shall we?"
He waited for Emily to walk first. The dog was at her side. Jimmy once again thought about the affinity between the dog and Emily. But he didn't say anything. He just waited for Emily.
Maybe someone will appear on the way. Or maybe something else. He couldn't know.

"We shall," Emily said with a smile, making her way down the hall, Shadow close to her side. As soon as they were outside, she waited for Jimmy to pull up along side her and glanced at him. "I couldn't help noticing your guitar. What kind of music do you play?" She asked, hoping to ease his stress. Maybe the stable would be the best place. Animals always helped her calm down. But maybe not for him.
She shifted the walk to a vague direction, hoping he would be drawn towards whatever he was interested in, and she would follow. Nothing said more about a person than speaking to them in their element. She smiled to herself. It helped that the sun was bright and shining. But then, the night gave the sense of invisibility and allowed some sense of comfort. Though Shadow tended to make people nervous.

That's it. Jimmy didn't wait to answer the question. "Oh, yeah, that's my Stratocaster. I used to play music since I was a child, but I started to make it serious after quitted from high school. I usually play rock, but it's not restricted. I have had a band in Seattle, my hometown. The Limelight. Maybe we're not famous in any other place than Seattle, but, glad to say this, everyone who used to come to the gig at Lizard House will definitely recognize us. As you see, I played guitar, and also singing. My friends were Hayley and Bowie. Hayley slapped her bass and Bowie rolled on the drums."
Jimmy just realized he has spoken more than a minute. He saw Emily who was staring at him, either amused or confused. "Sorry. Maybe I got carried away. Do you like music, Emily? Or you have another interest, maybe?"
