With one glance at Kita, Bruno immediately felt underdressed. He was wearing a nice white button up shirt and black pants, but Kita's outfit was stunning. How she managed to pull that together in ten minutes was beyond him, but obviously she had skills that he lacked.
After pausing to blush when Kita kissed his cheek on her way out, Bruno turned off the lights and locked the front door. Then he rushed over to the cab so that he could give directions to the driver. "We are headed to The Pier, over on Shoreview Drive. You know the place?" he asked the drive.
"Yeah, I know where that is," the driver replied. "I'll have yous twos there in a jiff."

Kita smiled slightly as he joined her in the cab, shifting closer to him so their legs touched, but just barely as she looked out the window. She was pretending to pay attention to what was outside, but from the corner of her eye she watched Bruno. He was the most interesting person she had ever met, not that she had met many people beyond her servants.
"So, Bruno, do you always embarass so easily?" she asked softly, leaning close to him so only he could hear her. It was none of the cabby's business. Though she was sure he had heard and seen much more than just casual flirting. Or a guy blushing near a girl. Though it must be interesting to see such a large masculine man be flustered by such a tiny girl. And a mediocre one at that. She was, by no stretch of the imagination, gorgeous by her standards. But since she moved here... well it seemed she caught a lot of eyes.

"I'm... not embarrassed," Bruno said, trying to sound like he was telling the truth. "I was just... caught off guard. You surprised me is all. I'm not used to hanging around with girls like you." He was careful not to explain exactly what he meant by 'girls like you.'
"Anyway, that over there is the library," he said, pointing out the window. "And over there is the laundromat. You know, if you ever need to do a lot of laundry." Bruno would never admit it, but he wasn't really interested in pointing out the sights of Hemington to Kita. He was just trying to change the subject.

"Girls like me hmmm?" she asked with a slightly raised eyebrow, turning to look at Bruno with a playful smile. She looked out the window at the sites he was pointing out, sensing he really didn't want to be there.
"What say we grab some take-out and have a picnic? I really don't feel like cabbing around on such a lovely day," she said, rolling down the window, letting the wind toy with her hair. The breeze was fresh, and it wasn't overly hot, just perfect, with the soft breeze caressing the skin like a lovers touch. She closed her eyes as she awaited the answer, leaning back on the seat.

"I guess we could do that..." Bruno replied, pausing in his attempts to tell Kita what was what in Hemington. Then Bruno looked down at what he and Kita were wearing. "But don't you think we are a little overdressed for takeout? And we are almost there..."
"It'll be about three more minutes," the cab driver interrupted. "But I can change course if ya want me ta drop you twos off somewhere else."
"It's really up to you, Kita," Bruno said. "It's your trip out on the town, so you get to decide. But the place we are, or at least were, headed to has tables outside if that helps. There are probably some takeout places nearby too, though."
"Yup," the driver chimed in. Again.

At the comment of being overdressed, she started to grin. "Isn't it better to be OVER dressed..." she let the sentence drift off as she let her gaze drift over Bruno, a smirk playing on her lips..."than under dressed?"
Bruno was definitely not like the guys she heard about, or the ones her parents had started throwing at her for potential future husbands. Ah the joys of wealth.
"We can always go to the beach and have a picnic. Or if you would rather a classy restaurant and take seats outside for a view and fresh air." She had to wonder about this shy giant. His appearance definitely went against his personality. She leaned close and kissed his cheek and smiled. He was just so darn adorable!

Bruno furrowed his brow when Kita mentioned underdressed. Just as he realized what she meant, Kita kissed him on the cheek. He could sense his own shocked expression and feel his face instantly going red.
"How much further?" Bruno quickly asked the driver due to flustered nervousness. Bruno was careful not to let his eyes stray in Kita's direction. Who knew what she might do or say if he acknowledged that her kiss had ruffled his feathers.
"A few blocks," the cab driver said, a bit annoyed. Bruno didn't have a long time to make a decision, and his recently tussled up state of mind wasn't helping much.
But soon Bruno's mind drifted to what he figured it would be like being alone on a beach with this girl and he instantly made up his mind. Really it wasn't much of a choice at all.
"We'll go to the restaurant," he stated matter of factly.

Kita smiled, eyelashes lowered. She really had him going. She reached over and touched Bruno's hand. Somehow flirting with Bruno was so easy. He was so adorably shy. "A restaurant it is," she smiled and moved her hand back onto her lap, her hands clasped together. "Though I was hoping for somewhere private. I had some questions I wanted to ask you."
Of course, from his previous reactions, she wasn't sure he'd be able to make it past turning red. But at least it wouldn't be in a public place where he'd be embarassed. She couldn't help wondering what the cabby thought of a big man being so nervous around a little thing like her. It was definitely interesting.
"You know Bruno, I'm glad we met."

"Hrm," was all Bruno said in reply. What else was he supposed to say? He definitely did not dislike Kita, she was interesting to hang around with, but she sure did know how to make conversations awkward. And Bruno wasn't a very talented conversationalist to begin with.
"Here's your stop," the cab driver said as they pulled to a stop in front of The Pier. "Cash or card?" Bruno paid the man in cash, then stepped out of the car.
The Pier was a semi-fancy seafood restaurant that was actually built on a pier which stretched out into the Atlantic ocean. On the street end was the building portion with the kitchen and indoor dining areas, and out over the water were round picnic tables where customers could sit if the weather was nice.
"I suppose I should have asked if you like seafood..." Bruno said as he offered Kita an arm to hang onto.

Kita took Bruno's arm like she had seen in the movies, and looked the place over. It was a quaint little place, and the view looked spectacular, especially on such a lovely day. "Will we be dining outside?" she asked hopefully, looking up at Bruno hopefully. She did hope so! She felt so safe with him, and he was so sweet, if somewhat awkward.
She used her free hand to smooth her dress, hoping to not be inappropriately dressed. It did seem rather nice. And she knew a thing or two about nice places. Maybe she wasn't so badly off. She shifted slightly closer to Bruno, content to follow him as he led. She wondered what they had to eat, she already knew what she was drinking.

"Possibly," was Bruno's only response to Kita's question. He led the way to the restaurant's entrance and held the door open for Kita, then entered himself.
Bruno's first reaction to the inside of the restaurant was that it looked much more interesting on the inside than it did on the outside. Most notably there were fish tanks everywhere. Some held species that would be used for cooking things fresh, but others were unmistakably purely for decorative purposes. It was as Bruno was examining a clown fish swimming in its anemone that he heard someone say, "Ahem."
Bruno looked up and saw that a waitress was standing there. He stood up strait and tried to look formal.
"Welcome to The Pier. My name is Jasmine and I'll be your waitress for the evening. Would you you like to enjoy your meal inside or outside this evening?"
Now that Bruno saw what the inside looked like, he didn't know which choice to make. So instead he pointed to Kita beside him and said, "Ask her."

Kita giggled despite himself, though she did feel somewhat insulted that she wasn't the only one that made him nervous. On the other hand... he wasn't blushing over her. And why did she care anyways? She smiled kindly at the girl. "Outside if you please," she said, though she did admire the fish, she wasn't too keen on the idea of seeing what she was eating being caught fresh. And getting a new morph here wouldn't be that bright. She doubted they'd let her.
She followed Jasmine out the door and sat down at the table the girl led them to, scanning the menu with interest. "What do you want to drink?" "I'll take an iced tea with a slice of lemon please." She glanced at Bruno, as did the waitress.

"Water," Bruno replied when asked about a drink. He wasn't much into soft drinks and didn't want to drink anything "fancy." Besides, he didn't know what would go good with what he wanted to order. Namely because he had no idea what he wanted to order.
The waitress left a few menus then went to go retrieve the drinks from the kitchen.
"This is a nice table to sit at," Bruno said casually as he glanced over the menu. At least he hoped he said it casually. Casually was what he was shooting for. "There is a nice breeze too." While it was true, Bruno felt a bit goofy talking about the wind. But no other topics of conversation were coming to mind at the moment. For the life of him, Bruno could not figure out why he was feeling so nervous.

Kita noticed Bruno's discomfort and pondered a topic of conversation. From what she had gathered, morphing was a no-no. She perused the menu thoughtfully as she considered the topic of conversation. She almost wished it was a chinese restaurant, she knew what to order there. Seafood restaurants had never been a big stop on her list of places to eat.
She looked up at Bruno and smiled warmly. "It is a lovely day. What would you like to do next?" she asked, closing her menu as she finally decided, taking a sip from the drink the waitress had brought. She draped one leg over the other daintily, hands resting lightly in front of her.

"Do next?" Bruno asked. He honestly hadn't thought that far ahead yet. "I don't know. We could go for a walk or something, I guess. We didn't see all of Hemington on the ride over here, so we could do some more exploring, I suppose."
When the waitress returned Bruno was still looking through the menu. He wanted to try something new, but it was tough to choose since many of the dishes were not familiar to Bruno and there weren't really descriptions telling which foods were what.
"Have you decided on what to order yet, or would you like some more time?" the waitress asked.
"Hmm. I guess I'll try the Sannakji, whatever that is," Bruno finally decided. The waitress raised an eyebrow, but then looked over at Kita to see what she wanted to eat.
