She hadn't been planning to acquire this creature. Nothing about it had stood out to her in the past, but when a complaint had come in of rodent intrusion on the job and Xylia had bagged it she couldn't help but add it to her tiny collection.
The Fox Squirrel. After her first morph of the fox she found herself warm up to the idea of a rodent with the same name. Even if it wasn't related to the fox in anything but color. It was still appealing enough, and perfect for her exploration around the city. After all, a squirrel wandering around the city was like seeing a pigeon. No big deal.
"To the park and back." She told herself sternly as she felt the changes begin. She would've preferred to try a new morph in the safety of the apartment, but for little rodents like her that apartment was a war zone. Every pet in there was an enemy for a squirrel especially Toby and Richard.
The first thing to change was her fur. She just puffed out like a cat having a bad hair day. Immediately after the ground rushed up to meet her and her hands began to shrink. Feeling like a giant puff ball her balance was regained when her tail shot out and curved around her back. Xylia placed her hands on the ground as the morph finished with her fingers becoming little squirrel claws and feet.
There was a moment of tense silence as Xylia braced herself for the animal instincts. She was only used to the fox morph with its curiosity and sneaky mind. And the goat with its settle confidence. As she waited for something similar she was surprised when nothing happened.
Strange.... She thought to herself while moving her tail and noting still that the squirrel was saying nothing. Maybe not all animals come with instincts...I'll ask the guys about that later. She had been musing on that thought when suddenly from behind her came the insistent yowl of a dog. She had only enough time to register her body rise and then twitch before she was gone leaving a little rise of dust in her wake.

Leroy looked at both sides of his head in the mirror. Then he examined the top and, using a handheld mirror and the one on the wall, he examined the back of his head as well.
"Looks good, Earl. You are a testament to your craft."
Earl smiled and said, "There's a reason I charge $20 for a basic cut." Leroy laughed and paid the man for his haircut before leaving. The price was a little steep, but Leroy liked a well-done haircut and Earl was both skilled and friendly.
Leroy stepped out into the sunshine and squinted at his surroundings. He didn't have any more errands to run so he decided he should probably head home. And since the quickest, most enjoyable rout to take was through the park, that is where he was headed. It was the same park where he had managed to acquire his duck morph, but he didn't plan on acquiring any ducks today. For one thing, he didn't have any bread crumbs...

Run, run, run this little furball could haul when it wanted to! Straight up a trashcan it stopped to watch when the dog was pulled back by a little boy.
Wow, okay...don't want to do that again... Xylia thinks as she catches her breath. It really was strange looking through the world as a squirrel. Nothing was looking the same. The trashcan, or what she thought was a trashcan, was more like a boulder, and that human was the giant from Jack and the Beanstalk.
After the burst of panic from the critter Xylia managed to get it under control. Now she was watching the excitable dog on pulling at his leash. <<Give it up pooch, you can't get to me.>> she states confidently. Too bad she had spoke too soon.
It could be nothing but her bad luck that the mutts collar was too loose. As Xylia scampered towards the other side of the trashcan she perked up just in time to hear the boy yell and to see the dog slip through the collar.
<<Oh Shizzles!>> She screamed to herself. Xylia jumped from the trashcan just before the dog slammed into it. <<Bad dog! Sit! Sit!>> she yelled to the dog as she burst out of the alleyway. Right behind her the dog panted and happily gave chase.

When Leroy was about to pass the entrance to an alley way, he was startled by a squirrel that suddenly ran out in front of him. And then a dog chasing the squirrel. And then a boy chasing the dog, carrying an empty leash.
Leroy laughed a little at the scene before deciding to help out. "Hey! Slow down! You need to wait for your master!" Leroy yelled to the dog as it got further away. He knew he wouldn't be able to catch it, so he was just jogging behind it. He figured the squirrel would run up a tree or a pole or something like the usually did, and then he would catch the dog for the boy. Leroy had already jogged past the boy as it was.

Finally a tree! Xylia bent her legs for a split second before jumping high into the air and catching hold of the bark. Running up as quickly as possible she tried to catch her breath on a little branch. Before she could inhale, however, she was forced to hug her stomach to the bark when a tremor sent the little tree shaking.
Apparently, that dog wasn't going to give up so easily on his new found toy, and being on such a puny tree Xylia couldn't exactly blame him. << Bad fido! You're gonna break the tree!>> She knew she was stuck now. If she jumped down it would be right into that dogs jaws, but the tree was bending under the pressure so she couldn't stick around.
"Hey! Slow down! You need to wait for your master!"
Xylia perks up at the sound. That voice sounded awfully familiar to her. Vision slightly poorer than human vision locked onto the source and she almost cried out in joy. Leroy! Great now she just needed to yell out and he would get her out of this mess!
The thought stalled her joy. That's right, if she called out he would know it was her. She would never be able to live down the humiliation of being rescued from the jaws of fido. How pathetic did that sound?
<<I'll have to apologize for this later.>> She tells herself before running out on her little limb. Crouching down she jumps off the branch and lands on his pants leg with a little squeak before climbing up the back of his shirt. At least she sort of knew he was an animal lover. She just hoped that extended to woodland creatures.

Just as Leroy neared the tree where the dog had chased the squirrel up a scrawny tree, he noticed a furry blur coming at him but didn't have time to react. "Yeeeaa!" he screamed as he felt it land on his leg. He tried to shake it off his leg, but it had already moved up his back. The tiny little claws of the squirrel poked his skin through his clothing.
Leroy was about to try and swat the little critter off of him, but by now the dog had moved to the squirrel's new hiding place. The dog was jumping up on Leroy and he had to keep turning and backing up to keep the thing from getting the squirrel of giving him a nasty accidental bite.
"Stay down!" He pushed the dog down and began to acquire it. It went into a trance and the little boy began reattaching the leash to it. In the meantime, Leroy took one hand off the dog and brushed wildly at his own back in order to try and get the squirrel off if it was still there. He couldn't really tell. Leroy had nothing against squirrels, but they did not belong on his back.
((OOC: Hey Xylia, what does the dog look like?))
