Keith grinned when Maya took the lead and gamely followed her up the stairs. "I've noticed that there does seem to be a new arrival every time we turn our back on that door," he said, a little amused that he hadn't even had time to get dusty before two new arrivals had jarred the place again. "This place looked pretty big from the outside. But hey, we're all grown-ups here, anyway. We can share rooms if we need to."
It was a weird thing to hear coming out of his own mouth, because Keith had never considered himself a grown-up before, and he still wasn't certain he did. Everyone here seemed so young, in fact; he wondered why SPECTER seemed to target people around his age. It set him wondering, for what had to be the twelth time that day, why on Earth the organization had looked at him and thought there's the exact person we need to fight crime and possibly aliens with a potentially disasterous super-power!
The rare, rare times he looked at himself critically, his initial thoughts were usually something like, keep that kid away from controlled substances or am I out of Cheetos already?
He was kind of lost in thought, and so he wasn't even thinking about what he was saying before the question was out of his mouth. "So, why do you think they went to you to join this thing?" he asked Maya, getting to the top of the flight of stairs.

"Grown-ups, huh? ...did you see Jake?" she smiled, hitting the top of the stairs and glancing around. Hmmm, not a ton of rooms... She headed down the hallway. "I guess we'll find out now..."
She peered into the first room. A bedroom. She was relieved to see there was a pair of beds there, and they looked relatively new. "Oh good. They couldn't clean it but at least they gave us new furniture in here..."
His question caught her off guard, and she peered back into the hall to look at him. "Me??" She quickly shrugged it off. This wasn't something she wanted to get into with someone she'd just met. "Well..." she finally said. "I suppose I'm not the Yeerks' biggest fan..."

Alec Powers got out a piece of scrap paper and checked the address on the note and on the house. It was right. He knocked on the door, excited about his new house.
He thought this SPECTER thing he was doing would be a better life. He is now out of the office programming the computers for the Spaceport project, and out saving the world. Well, at least he will be. He got out a business card he picked up on the way there. It read:
Skynet Research: Where we make robots to better mankind! 555- 1923
He thought he might try it out.
OOC:Sorry, I HAD to mention Skynet, I just saw Terminator Salvation.

"Find out whether we need to share rooms, or whether or not we're grown-ups? Or both, I guess." The last part was more of a wry, light-hearted acknowledgment than a question.
Keith leaned over and looked into the room from behind Maya. It looked kind of... plain, like a kind of dirty hotel room. Not very personal. He imagined all the rooms looked pretty much the same.
He did notice the twin beds. Looked like they were expected to be sharing at least one room, not that it surprised him. How many people did SPECTER expect to send to this town? Keith had never thought of Maine as a place that really needed superheroes, and certainly not a Justice League of more than a half-dozen.
Keith hadn't meant to catch Maya off-guard, and had only been vaguely aware that he'd been speaking out loud in the first place, asking the question. Her answer was a pretty clear dismissal of the topic, and so he only said, "I don't know many people who were their fans," in response. He spoke quietly, his omnipresent grin almost faltering; he almost felt bad about bringing it up. He wasn't entirely sure why he had brought it up in the first place.
"There's not much to it, is there?" he asked about the room, gesturing at the dusty space so she wouldn't think he was still being semi-philosophical. "Let's see how many there are." And then he paused and moved aside, expecting her to take the lead.

((OOC: privateicey, could you do us a huge favour and adjust your display name to Alec? ;D It'd probably make things easier to remember/follow, character-wise.))
"True," Maya nodded as she turned back down the hall to do more exploring. "I guess none of us would be in this situation if we didn't want to stomp some yeerks for one reason or another..."
Eager to change the subject, she moved on to the next room, peeking in. "Hmm... looks pretty much the same..." She couldn't help but finally sneeze at all the dust in the air. "Geez louise I'm sounding like that Nancy girl..." she rubbed her nose a little, trying to shake off another sneeze that wanted to come.

"Okay,"Alec said to himself."They can't hear me. I'll do this the hard way." With that, he got out a paper clip, bent it the right way, and tried to pick the lock. He then realized that it was unlocked, and he walked in.
"Did you hear me? I was outside knocking on the door."Alec said. He was wearing a hood and shades."Apperently you guys were talking. I'll share a bed with anyone who wants to."

There sure seemed to be a lot of people around here, Leopold noted. And that guy seemed rather, what, flirty? Gross. Leopold wasn’t one for flirty people, whether male or female. And he’d had his fair share of girls flirting with him. Or maybe he was just joking...in which case, they’d get along well. Leo liked to talk with funny people...mostly because he was rather incapable of being funny himself. The guy, Jake, seemed to go for Leopold, but had forgotten when he’d seen a girl; he now went to get him, noting that he needed landing practice. Which he did.
He had ascertained from what he heard everyone saying, with his keen hawk hearing, that they had all been chosen by SPECTER. With this in mind, he actually spoke, thinking the words to Jake. <Yeah, I suppose I do need them. Thanks for helping me out, bud; name’s Leo. You were sent by SPECTER, right?> As he’d been coached to, he kept the thought-speech just between them.

((Hope I'm not butting in.))
As Mark watched the Greyhound bus pull away he sighed. The trip had been long and boring but he'd gotten here in one piece. Hauling his battered pack higher onto his shoulder, he reached into his pocket and pulled out the scrap of paper where he'd written the address of his new home. He glanced at it quickly, looked at the addresses around him and stuffed the paper back in his pocket. Lucky me, I have to walk two blocks.
Slipping his other arm through its shoulder strap he started off, careful as the bag contained everything that was truly 'his'. It all seems to simple really, how readily they seem to throw us to danger without warning. How readily they free us of our bonds and turn us into little more than sanctioned vigilantes... At least it seems that way to me. He frowned slightly, staring off into space for a few seconds. Maybe they just make sure to choose people that don't need to be reigned in. That have the concious required to do a job like this that requires so much responsibility and maturity.
As he came up to the house he smiled. It looked like a decent size for a few people, though with any more than five it would be a little cramped. Seeing someone just walk right in was a bit disconcerting though. Following him in silently, he listened to the man speak and cleared his throat. "I'm sure people will line up for the chance." He said coldly. So much for maturity.

"Leo? Nice to meet ya, Leo. Yeah, I think we all are sent from SPECTRA or whatever they're called...and I'd be glad to help anytime..." Jake grinned. "Just call me the back-up."
Jake looked back at the house and said, 'Hey, if you want to demorph, I can show you inside and introduce you to everyone--that is to say, everyone I know...these people came in like a swarm of bees. Myself included."

Keith shrugged. He didn't really have anything hardcore against the Yeerks- he didn't love them, no, but they hadn't taken anything away from him. Maybe that was why Maya had been snatched up by SPECTRE- something had been taken from her, and they were using her obvious hatred towards them to their own benefit.
Or maybe it was completely random. Whoever had a Social Security number that ended in six and an IQ over ninety, or something like that. No one had explained the selection methods to Keith.
"Bless you," he said to Maya, lips twitching as she started sneezing, too. The rooms did all look identical, and here in these annonymous Maine suburbs, there wasn't what Keith would consider a view to contend over. He heard voices downstairs, and the door opening, and rolled his eyes a little. "Sounds like the cavalry's arrived. Or something. How many bedrooms are in this place, anyway?"

<Sounds good,> Leopold replied, hopping from his hands to the ground, and closing his eyes, focusing on his human self. The first thing to disappear was the beak...a very creepy thing, because a mouth grew just at that time, and his body was growing as well. Wings bent to the shape of arms, and his tail disappeared into his rear, the black morphing outfit showing itself. His legs, with talons still on them, grew, and fingers sprouted from the edges of his wings. His hawk eyes were replaced by the “blind” human eyes, and soon, hair sprouted, as feathers grew back into his body.
Finally, the really freaky parts of it ended, and Leopold stood there, in his morphing outfit. “So...how’s about showing me around?” he said, to Jake. Not bad for the first morph, he thought. He was really liking this.

((I think we need more bedrooms...I'll add some more!))
Then someone else came in. And...Jake, wasn't it?...went outside for something. Then another person walked in! Nancy turned around and headed towards the kitchen. She was getting a little overwhelmed with all of this. Like, ten people living together? What was SPECTER thinking? She entered the kitchen and sat down on a chair. She brushed hair out of her eyes and glanced around, pulling herself together.
Then she noticed another door. She walked over to it and pulled it open. Then gasped. A large vacant room, easily as large as the living room and kitchen combined, sat there. And there was another flight of stairs against the far wall. As she ran over to it, she walked up it, sneezing all the way. At the top, she saw another small hallway. However, this one had only three doors and they were all on the same side. She guessed that the top floor was divided into two different sections each accessible by only one staircase. To her, that made sense since the tope floor had looked larger from the oputside than it had looked on the inside.
She ran down the stairs and back across the huge room and through the kitchen. She took a moment to catch her breathe before calmly walking back into the living room.
"Hey guys," she said in a musical voice, "Guess what I found."

"Let's see," Maya crossed the hall and opened up the next door, revealing another bedroom looking essentially the same as the other two. "Bedroom. Guess we will fit! There's like five or six of us now right?"
She tried the fourth and final door on the same side. "Oops. Bathroom." She closed the door again. "Alright so three bedrooms. We still have space for one more person!! We should head back down, tell the others and all that..."
((OOC: I say five/six of them because she and Keith had already gone upstairs when the last 2 or 3 arrived so they don't know about them yet. And we're no longer counting Cristina, right?))

"Well. Three bedrooms for six people isn't that bad, then," Keith agreed, with a shrug. No one had said this would be a luxurious position, after all, and he figured he could live with a roommate. How bad could it be?
From the first few steps on the way down, though, he could see the new faces. He smirked over his shoulder at Maya. "I thought I heard new people comin' in," he said, loud enough, he presumed, for the people on the ground floor to hear as he barreled down the stairs. He hadn't heard Nancy talking about her discovery, although he had heard Alec's entrance. "I guess someone's sleeping on the floor; there're only three bedrooms up there. Two beds to a room. Math's not my strong suit, but..."

"Well, I usually sleep in uncomfortable places. "Alec said. He sat on the couch and unpacked. All he had was 5 outfits and a labtop.
Alec noticed something wierd by the couch. There was a crack small enough for a small lizard. His specialty.
"Guys. Check this out. This is wierd. I'll morph into a lizard and find out what this go to."Alec said.
