Leroy returned from the bathroom and slid into his chair just in time for the waitress to arrive. Which was lucky, because he had changed his mind about what he wanted to order. "What would y'all like to eat today," the blond, curly-haired waitress asked. She propped up a note pad and a pencil onto her hand in order to take their orders.
"Don't bother," a middle-aged man's voice said behind the waitress. "They won't be here long enough to eat anything anyway. Just bring everyone a chocolate milk or something. My treat." He handed her a folded up fifty dollar bill and the waitress walked off. It was Agent Morris.
Agent Morris looked at each animorph face in turn and could guess at what thoughts and emotions were going through their heads. Confusion, frustration, impatience. He couldn't blame them. However, it didn't make it any less amusing to him.
"I suppose I don't have to remind you guys to keep a lid on it, but, do." He knew that sentence was a bit awkwardly worded, but it was necessary to be slightly cryptic in such a public setting and he figured they would catch what he meant. "Anyway, here's something that might come in handy on your 'scavenger hunt.'" He mad air quotes as he said scavenger hunt right after he threw a small black pouch onto the center of the table.
Inside were small tracking devices that would ping as they got closer to the geological coordinates of their target. Theoretically, they would not be affected by whatever was causing the ships trouble. And hopefully they were small enough for whatever morphs they acquired for this mission to be able to carry them.
"Don't loose those."
